I tried this for the first time last night. I’d had a few automatic lucid dreams in my time, so I decided to try and have them at will. So last night, I tried to induce one with WILD. After a bit, my sight went white, my heart beat quickened, my breathing got strained, my eyes started to tear a bit, and I heard this weird high pitched whistle. It sort of sounded like a locust mixed with a tea kettle. After a bit, I did an RC and I was still awake, at least I think I was. If I wasn’t, that was a serious waste of an LD.
What’s funny is today I was massively tired, so when I was getting ready for school, I sat down in the shower (what, you don’t?) and put my head down, and I was feeling the same sensation. Was I close? And what tips can you give me to get even closer?
The trick is to try and stay calm and simply watch passively. It might take a few tries, so keep practicing! After a while things will start making more sense and full images will form before your eyes
You don’t. Images will come to you, and even if it is a dark dream, just use your imagination to bring something up ^^ your dream eyes are only a residue of the image you possess of the real you, so you don’t really need them (plus messing with your dream eyes can lead to opening them IRL, thus awakening you)
EDIT: Actually, forget what I said last. Images always come by themselves. End of story.
Yes, but that comes from experience; the first times, trying to force images to appear will only get you nervous and tense and that’s why i didn’t edit out the message: it was partly true, but not the best advice for him.
Any tips on not getting that “I want to die sensation”?
Last time (which made me give up on WILD) I was laying there for 1.5 hours and NOTHING!. I was as relaxed as possible, then tried to imagine myself dreaming, but nothing worked.
I think if you’re that long and get nothing you should just give up and try to fall asleep normally. It happens to me too, our minds are too awake. I roll over and fall asleep. Sometimes I’m able to carry in some awareness into the dream and end up having a DILD.
and what exactly do you mean with the “I want to die sensation”?
Oh, I see. I think the ultimate trick is to lay 100% still. That includes your eyes. The eyes twitch naturally but with practice you might be able to keep them stable. I find it really hard and WILD a lot easier by simply forgetting about my body. Remember that the body only shuts down when it’s convinced the mind has fallen asleep
That was weird. I may have found my closest thing to a lucid dream (didn’t go through HI, though.) In my dream, I was TRYING to decide whether I was lucid or not, but I didn’t do anything to test it. That was a trip…
