Ok,I know that this may sound strange, but I’m not completely sure whether I’ve had a lucid dream or not.I really want to know what you think of it.A few weeks ago,I had this dream, where i was walking in a city(it wasn’t the city live in or a city I’ve seen before).Like I said,it didn’t look familiar and I noticed this.I asked myself if I was dreaming, and suddenly I started floating,so I knew for sure that I was. After that,I realized that I could change anything, and take full control of my dream, and I was already doing some changes to the city, when my best friend appeared. She asked me if she was dreaming, and i said “yes, you are”.
Then,I told her that we could do anything, like fly or change the dream completely, and we both agreed on flying. But after that,I had something i think it’s called false awakening…I woke up,thinking that I really DID wake up and i got a message from my firend that was in my dream and i texted her:“Don’t tell me you had the same dream i had”…She said yes,I did,I mean,I was in your dream…And after that,i woke up.I told her the next day about my dream…I wasn’t expecting her to have had the same dream, and she hasn’t,so…The thing is,if I was lucid, then how come I believed that she entered my dream?Come to think of it,i wasn’t thinking about how she got there at all.I was just happy to share this with my best friend. Now,can you DREAM of being lucid? Is it possible? Was I really lucid? And finally, excuse my english mistakes…i’m not a native english speaker
When you realize that you’re dreaming, then you’re lucid. So yes, you were.
Congrats! This was a lucid dream. You realized that you were dreaming, and then took control. That was also a FA. Also your friend was a dream character that was created by your mind/ sub-concious - just like the city and everything else.
Thanks for your replies.I’ll count that as a lucid dream, then. It just seemed strange that I didn’t realize my friend was created by my mind.
It is usually rare for a dream to be 100% lucid. I measure it in how aware or conscious you are. The first level is simply being aware that you are dreaming. The highest stage is waking consciousness, where you are just as aware as in waking life.
You can think of it as how drunk you are Not drunk at all is a high level of awareness, waking awareness. And very drunk is a low level of awareness. And if you are drunk enough you may not even be aware that you are dreaming!
When you’ve had a few lucid dream (2 may be enough) you’ll notice how your consciousness were different in them. I even notice how i am sometimes more or less conscious in non-lucid dreams.
The mind is amazing thing. It can recreate almost anything, from scenery to people. Have you ever had a regular dream with anyone you know? It’s the exact same concept. Now, you might not have been thinking about all of this at the time, especially if you want to have a shared dream with someone. Even while lucid dreams are very convincing.
Oh, and make sure to do a reality check whenever you wake up. This will help catch any false awakenings like the one you had after the dream
