Was this actually a LD or ND?

Hello  everyone, Im a newbie  . After reading Robert Waggoners book, I’ve been hooked on thought of LD. I think i saw this question being asked before but i cant find the thread   ((sorry)). I’m trying to distinguish if these 2 dreams were actually LD ((I hope so)). :bored:

On my birthday ((june 7th)):  I THINK I had LD. I was in my house and i remember grabbing ALL the dream characters elbows screaming, “this is a dream, i’m dreaming”, they all stared at me  then I woke up. Was this actually a LD? I cant remember being that aware, it felt like a ND.

The 2nd time: ((june 10th 2014)): I cant recall the entire dream but I remember looking at the ground and i started sreaming “more lucidity” ((prolly 6 times)). then i said i want to fly. i started flying ((like superman)) higher and higher until i was in space. i starred at earth from a dark quiet space. earth seemed so small, like the size of the moon. i awoke up stunned.
Again, i don’t remember being aware.

Were these LDs? Help!!!

I’m not an expert, but those where two lucid dreams. (The single criterium being awareness of being in a dream.)

Last night I had a dream where I “knew” or believed I was dreaming and tried to become lucid several times without success. The definition of a lucid dream where the only criteria is that you know you are dreaming is a bad one imo. It’s a unique feeling, becoming lucid, where you sort of “wake up” in the dream. If I don’t have that, it’s not a lucid dream for me. You’ll have to learn the difference by experiencing it.

I agree. On one hand i feel like there are levels of “awareness” but I didnt FEEL like the 2 were any different from my other dreams Ive. Its like i had a dream about a lucid dream. ((the paradox  )) Im wondering if i should change the “lucid” status in my DJ to ND. If this wasnt a LD then it looks like im back to zero LDs so far. Oh well, my dream recall has become phenomenal over the past week. Ill keep practicing.

Those two dreams were almost there. It’s a good sign. Keep you dream recall up and your mind on achieving lucidity. You’ll get more chances soon enough

My only question is did you know you were dreaming or did you go “Oh, I’m dreaming” and the thought was out of your mind before you knew it?

If you actually knew you were dreaming, even if the level of awareness was low, it’s still a lucid dream. If you acted like you knew you were dreaming or had the thought, but didn’t realize that you had, I’d call it an FLD.

Really, the only one who will be able to judge them is you since you were the one who had the experience.

Thanks Scipio Xaos! The “FLD” is a new one to me. I didnt have that “click” of awareness. Wow, dreaming about having a lucid dream. Ok, I really have to start practicing more. I don’t FEEL like these were LDs. The excitement gets me everytime

In the last months I have been pondering about suggesting that people should use “Real Lucid Dream-RLD” or “True Lucid Dream-TLD” (or something like “Aware Lucid Dream - ALD” or “Conscious Lucid Dream - CLD”) when talking specifically about the opposite of FLD.

Definitionwise, many FLDs could be LDs. And since so many people believe they are in fact LDs, maybe it’s much more adequate to set a definition for the specific “True LDs” than arguing.

My current rule for deciding whether a LD is FLD or not, is to check if you have the same mindset of being awake and fully conscious (aware). If you don’t have it, then I consider it a FLD even when you know it’s a dream.
