Was this an OBE?

I prefered to split this from the BIG “Was this a LD?” topic cause it may stay unnoticed amongst beginners questions concerning differences between ND’s and LD’s.

I’m not entirely sure how to interpret something that happened this afternoon.
I’ve already had several lucid dreams, so I know what it’s like but this one was different.

I took an afternoon nap and awoke about an hour later. I was still pretty tired and my body was numb.
I had my eyes closed and felt like I could move my ‘dream arms’ without moving my real arms so I gave it a try and it seemed to work.
I moved them up and tried to push them through the ceiling (my ceiling is only about 2 1/2 ft above my bed because I’m sleeping in a loft bed) and it seemed to work because my arms felt like they were breaking through the ceiling. I tried to pull myself up by holding on to a bar I was imagining above my bed and I felt myself slowly going upwards.
It was too slow and I felt like I was losing focus so instead I tried to sink through my bed and again it seemed to work. I still didn’t have any visuals because my eyes were still closed so I opened my eyes.
Unfortunately I opened my real eyes and the sensation was over.
Was this a lucid dream or an OOBE or something different?
I was wide awake during the whole thing, just in a sort of different state of mind.

I’m not so sure about OBE’s myself. I’ve had about three vivid dreams that fit the definition.

One in particular, I reached the vibrational state and went into a lucid dream. Oddly enough, I didn’t have so much control, I couldn’t create things like I normally could, I couldn’t teleport, or fly, nothing. I could only walk and open doors.

I walked up the stairs to my brother’s room, though I don’t know why. He wasn’t in his bed, and most of the stuff that’s in his room wasn’t there. But, there was very clear detail, and I saw things in his room that I normally wouldn’t have guessed were there.

It was very much like an OBE, but too many things were out of place.

Perhaps it was because I had recently read about OBE’s and was dreaming that I had one?

So, maybe, maybe not.

To me, this just sounds like a lucid dream in which you dreamt of having an OBE. As for not having any powers in your dreams, that has happened to me, as well. On one occasion, I’ve had an incredibly boring lucid dream in which I had simply walked around my house at night, and I haven’t even thought of anything interesting to do. It was simply me walking around, taking note of how close to real life my house looked at the time.

Now, I’d like to take this moment to mention the difference between Out of Body Experiences and Astral Projection. OBEs are usually spontaneous and unintentional, and can also be disorienting for people who don’t know what is going on. Those who experience an OBE also don’t have much control over what is going on.

As for astral projection, that was usually intended by whoever has experienced them. The APer also has some control over what they want to do and where they go.

So far, I haven’t experienced either. I’m working on astral projection, though.

I can’t do OBEs but I’ve done AP once…
Also the first person who posted propably APed whlst the second (like what blissfulblues said) was probably lucid dreaming.
