was this HI or a Dream

This morning I tried to WBTB, I stayed awake for 35 minutes and went back to bed (duh) where I drifted off pretty fast. The next thing I remember I was watching some side scrolling mario video game character for about a minute and then for whatever reason I clued in and started telling myself that I was dreaming. As I tried to enter this dream(?) I got the cool vibe feeling running through my body. I must say I really enjoy that feeling, it kept pulsing every time I said Im dreaming, but I was unable to snap into a dream. After thinking about it a while I wish i had tried to zoom out rather than into the game.

Sorry if these might be silly questions but thats never stopped me before. Is it possible to dream without first being though SP (paralized)? Also can HI be more movie like than static images?

Im just wondering weather you’d classify this as a dream or HI?

I want to say HI because of the whole vibe thing but i’ve never experienced HI quite like that before.

again if these are stupid questions please excuse my ignorance

Hello, I don’t think it’s a dumb question. HI I think is really when you see Hi immages, that have some kinda glow affect, and strange neon colors, have you seen something on your computer, before where you see a line that changes into colors , forms into a triangle and then just kinda goes back and forth in a circle? It’s a screen saver. LOL sorry that’s the only comparison I can come close to. That’s the HI. But I think you had an LD and you were trying to hard and it just didn’t work out right. I’ve had dreams like that along time ago, I want something to happen and they just don’t happen right. Iam sorry if I am wrong or missunderstood your message. Hope I’ve helped.

First off, to answer your main question, if you could still feel your body IWL, it was almost certainly HI. If all you could feel was your dream body, or no body at all, then you were probably actually dreaming.

It is indeed possible to dream while not in SP; that’s the cause of sleepwalking, talking in one’s sleep, and other associated phenomena. Sometimes, our body’s SP mechanisms don’t function perfectly, and are stronger in some people than in others. However, it’s not a normal state; SP exists to prevent you from acting out your dreams IWL, and without it you do so.

HI frequently are moving, as opposed to static pictures; entirely static HI is actually rather rare. Most people report seeing moving geometric patterns, or in some cases more vivid, cohesive images, like your Mario game. There are a lot of different forms that HH can take; all of them have been used by WILDers at one time or another.

There’s no such thing as a stupid question. Unless, of course, it’s never asked.

Good luck! You seem to be well on your way. :content:

HI can actually take form into a photorealistic static image or a vivid video clip like hallucination. I sometimes have these on the brink of sleep or seconds after i woke up from a dream. They are more often shapes like you said though.

Sounds exactly like my HI/WBTB entry stage crapola. That vibe feeling is lovely isn’t it!

I’ld say this was probably Hypnogogic Imagery. Congrats for getting so close! Keep trying!

and don’t worry about asking stupid questions. It’s all part of learning. Not that that was a stupid question!

This is very similar to what happens to me as well. I vote HI. Theoretically you should be able to ‘enter’ one of these images, but I’ve never been able to; I usually get excited and pop out of that phase. AFter that happens I lay really still and quickly enter that phase again. What I do next is focus on my ‘dream’ body – it’s hard to explain, but eventually I drop out of my RL body into a dream. I’ve also managed to open my eyes into a dream. The main point here is you will know when you can enter the dream, you just have to wait. Good luck.

exactly. You said it better then I can.
