Ways to Increase Lucidness

Increasing lucidness in LD is a HUGE obstacle for me. None of the methods I’ve heard of have worked for me (spinning, rubbing hands together, doing math, yelling ‘clarity now!’, taking off a piece of clothing, etc). But now, come to think about it, I realise that in all my very clear LDs, there is one simple method I’ve used. It has never failed for me.

If you have the same problems as me, read on, try out my method, and comment. I’m not sure if this would go better in the ‘Lucid Labs’ section, but if it would, moderators please move it. :content:

Anyways, here it is:

Pro’s:
-it increases clarity by like 10 million times!
-it gives you better control
-it makes it feel more like real life
-basically, to sum it all up, it increases lucidness and makes LDs more enjoyable

Con’s
-if it doesn’t work, it could wake you up

How it Works

You know those annoying LDs where you can still feel your eyes closed while lucid dreaming, and everything looks like you’re watching a tv screen, and then nothing you do will increase the clarity? Well, the solution is one simple step: open your eyes. Don’t be worried about waking up, just open them. Make your intentions to be able to see better, not to wake up. Chances are, you’ll either have a very clear and realistic FA (and you can go on from there), or you’ll stay in the same place but your lucidness will increase by a lot.

For some reason, this works incredibly well.

NOTE: As soon as you’ve done this, do a RC!

Anyways, please comment and tell me what you think!

nice, like having a second pair of eyelids! Sounds vaguely familiar, I might have done this before… :hmmm:

I might try it if I get a LD…

Maybe WILD tonight?

I’ve been doing that recently to make myself lucid in the past week. It’s worked alright for me. I’m still learning to control my lucidity, I’ll probably try to do an RC next time this happens to me.

Nice method, I think I’ll try it.

Good idea - I’ve popped out of too many dreams just because I couldn’t see. Realizing my eyes were closed made it impossible to stay in the dream.

I’ll try this tonight…

Good suggestion. Like you said, the only thing is you might snap open your real eyes, or just an FA so the RC is very important. Even if you’re 100% sure that you’re awake, I’d say there’s a good 80% chance that you’re not. At least, that’s my experience.

That is so true. I’ve missed so many FAs that could’ve ended up being LDs! I couldn’t afford to miss another just because I didn’t do a RC.
