Many times in my dreams, I will be going through a normal dream, and then suddenly, I will be in a tv show episode. Like, one example. I was running away from this murderer, then the next time i remember, i was like, in “Roseanne”, and the characters were talking about their nightmares. Or sometimes, I will go from a tv thing, into a normal dream. Like, once I was doing something with the rugrats, and I walked inside, and saw my dog, and realized I was dreaming because my dog looked different.
But back to the point, this is really hard to write down in a dream journal, so I just end up assuming things. Whats with this? And is there anyway that I can use this as a reality check? Because when I realize im dreaming, its just something weird in my dream that makes me do a RC.
I’m having a hard time understanding… do you mean that often in your dreams, a DC is a television character? I’ve experienced this a couple times before. It is a pretty big dream sign if you’re not an actor. I don’t think this will be a reliable RC. You can’t predict which characters you’ll meet up with, and if you watch television a lot, you’ll automatically assume you’re not dreaming every single time, even if you are.
As for the DJ entries, I have that problem quite a bit. First, make sure you write in your DJ right when you wake up. That’s when you’ll have most details fresh in your mind. When writing in my DJ, I come across some common problems with detail. Maybe these will help you:
Transportation
Dreams often consist of multiple settings. Did you go from Point A to Point B by walking/running? Did you use something like a car, train, boat, or plane? Did you do something unnatural, like flying or teleporting? Did the setting just change without warning? Or can you just not remember?
Lighting
Believe it or not, if you can remember the source of any light in your dream and how bright it is, dreams become easier to remember. I’ve experimented with this, and it’s really helped. It takes practice to focus on recalling light, but it pays off in two ways. First, you recall dreams easier. Second, if a light switch fails, that’s a dreamsign.
jumping from one dream scene to another is very common in dreams … you just tend to have TV programmes as one of your dream themes.
just write down what you experience … a lot of the dj writers at LD4all use (jump) ~snip~ or similar to denote these changes.
I and others have even had “layered dreams” where you are in two places at once in the dream.
Why not try to keep a dj in our dream diary forum and see how you get on?
