I can remember times back when I was young, for instance in kindergarten, when I would see strange forms moving around. Most of the time, they would just be outlines of people, multi-colored, like a laser show of sorts (I guess–I’ve never seen a laser show). They would show up when I woke up in the middle of the night.
But I have a distinct memory of waking up in the middle of the night in my parents’ bed and seeing one of those bananas from that old children’s show (Bananas in Pajamas, I believe)float down onto the foot of the bed. It was really small, like maybe the size of an action figure. All I can remember is that it scared the crap out of me.
Maybe I dreamed all of this, though. I had quite weird dreams back then–for instance, one in which I had to find a leaf in the woods to save my friend. But I was too late–his face became weird, and his eyes were positioned one above the other instead of horizontally.
My question is: has anyone else experienced this? I just recently remembered all these weird things, and don’t really know what to think of them.
That’s odd, cause when I was a kid, (well…a young kid ), I would always remember seeing colors move around. It was probably with my eyes closed (it was SO long ago, but I’m pretty sure it was), but I saw outlines and color splotches. I told my mom this, and she was confused on what I meant (when I was younger) Is this the same thing?
Then I had the weirdest hallucination or dream when I was like 5 or six. I don’t know if I was half0-awake or completely alseep. But I was drowsy, and I saw this guy hovering…or maybe sitting on my brotehr’s bed across the room. He was sorta cartoonish. I was talking to him, and he faded, and I was like “no, don’t go!” He was like…fading in and out. I wasn’t really creeeped out but i thought it was kinda cool . then again, it coulda been all a dream…who knows. Maybe all kids have experiences like this?
Sounds a lot like what I saw. I talked to mine all the time, too. 'Cept my hallucinations never really liked me–always mad at me for some reason or another.
And I saw colors from time to time, too. You could be right, maybe this is just a thing kids go through. Maybe our imaginations are so big as kids that we tend to confuse our “make believe” with reality, and see things we imagine? Kinda makes ya wonder…
Childrens are known for having a very fertile imagination and to dream more than an adult. I know when i was a child i often saw dark shapes hidding as soon as i turned my head, i used to think they were ghosts but now i’m pretty sure they’re the product of my imagination. Sometimes when i’m really tired i can still halucinate them.
I have hallucinations all the time! Not nearly as bad as when I was little though. Of course I used to day dream a lot as well… one time when we were walking in line (elementary school) I actually stopped while walking and was completely in Lala Land. The teacher had to shake me awake, that’s how bad it was. I’d see ghosts everywhere as well. (but then again I see them now) waves to Sam, John, and Kiki
Yeah i had one of these weird hallucinations. When i was younger and i used to sleep with my brother, my brother and i were talking by late night when suddenly i saw this ghostly shaped figure walking through the hall in direction to my where my parents were sleeping.
I hallucinated like crazy when I was a kid. I even saw rainbow colors on the wall and spirits around… (I thought it was normal). I also had some scary experiences too from that… devils, etc. lol
My brother once saw a Doom demon in his room when he woke up. I think it is called hypnopompic hallucinations. I have seen or felt a cat in my bed a couple of times.
Yeah, hypnopompic, I’ve heard of that. Is it common for them to remain after you get up? I remember one time, I got up out of the bed, saw the hallucinations, moved to the couch, and they were still there.
There is a theory (I have read somewhere, sorry can’t quote where) that babies and young children can see auras - but we lose the ability as we grow. I think it’s wonderful that you can remember it - I am actually working on trying to see auras at the moment, but I have only seen the odd fleck of colour so far.
I would say you have a natural aptitude for seeing the aura - something you could work on (if you wish of course).
For some children, hypnopompic hallucinations can last quite a long time. I’ve been told of somebody who could see his dream images 30 minutes after he woke up (when he was a child). It’s quite rare, but it may happen.
When I was like 5, I could close my eyes, imagin an image really hard, open my eyes, and see it floating around. Kind of like when you see a splotch after looking at a bright light.
While reading this topic, i just remembered a dream i had about a year ago (before i knew about lucid dreaming). I was in a mist filled lake, on a platform or raft. it was pretty calming, but i can’t remember much more then that. other then it was in japan.
