Anyways, I tried to WILD again recently. Sometime into it, I heard myself lightly snoring, I guess you could say. I felt like I was asleep, but I was still awake. I kept imagining what I must look like, for some reason.
The question is, was I on the right track? I’d love to atleast get one WILD under my belt
I don’t have much experience with WILD. I do recall 1 success story, and the proper timeline for performing this technique.
Success Story
Asleep in my bed I see images begin to appear. Way beyond normal visualization inside the minds eye. What I remember is reaching for an object in the dreamscape. In this case it was my steering wheel. I immediately jumped into my car and was driving around my neighborhood amazed. Stunned at it all. I don’t recall any other time I began the scenario with lucidity from the get-go. Very intense. Very vivid.
Suggestions
Always combine methods. The best time for most to perform a WILD is in the morning, not at night. A popular misconception. When performing it at night, or the late evening your body is ready to sleep due to the conversion of melatonin. You will find yourself falling asleep much to quickly, with little focus, in most situations.
I also suggest performing WILD in addition to WBTB. I’ve read and crossed examine the proper timeline amongst other’s success stories.
Falling asleep at 10 p.m
Waking up between 4:30 - 5:00 a.m.
Meditate of Lucidity for thirty minutes to an hour. I enjoy the watching the sunrise then proceeding going back to bed.
Hope it helps…
Perform in the morning. NOT AT NIGHT!
It plays on your natural circadium rhythm of the two chemicals in your brain that are responsible for sleep and alertness. Serotonin, and melatonin. The sun is our natural alarm clock.
well, in general no. There are some people though that are able to WILD at night, I believe, but it’s supposed to be A LOT harder. You’d have to stay absolutely still for like an hour to enter a dream…
But that doesn’t mean it’s a complete waste of time. When I started out LD’ing I’d try at night and that would make me more conscious in general of my dreams (better recall, FLD’s, FA’s and even LD’s here and there…)
So to practice staying still, relax, meditate, etc. I think it’s a good thing. But not as an induction method
Well firstly, you don’t have to do anything, It’s possible to have success anytime with the WILD technique, however, it is considerably easier at certain times. By far the hardest time is when you first sleep at night, you must go through the longest NREM period to reach the shortest REM period of the night.
WBTB is a good time, because having just woken, later in the night, you have to go through a short, or non existant period of NREM, to get to a longer period of REM. After sunrise (dependant on your sleep schedule of course), would also be interesting, if you can do it, because NREM is very short again, and REM would be relatively long.
So say I sleep at around 11pm and wake up at 5am and then wait about 10-15 minutes in bed and then do WILD, do you think its possible to do WILD that time?
