What Are Your Dream Recall Numbers?

I’d like to talk about dream recall, and what yours is at right now. Also, any tips would be appreciated.

right now, I can recall about 3-4 dreams every morning, which is pretty good in my opinion, but then again, I’ve never really heard anyone else’s numbers.

so talk away! how many dreams can you recall, and what tips would you give?

here’s what I do when I wake up: I lay in bed for a few minutes, without moving, and I ask myself, “what did I dream about last night” and I sort of throw a few pictures or words into my head, which in turn normally sparks up a memory, and from there it’s like a domino effect and the whole dreams reveals itself, and I go “oh ya!”

I’m at 2-3 dreams per night. It’s sometimes difficult, because one dream is a beautiful epic, so I write it down, and it takes like 10 pages in my journal, then I get to the next one to write, which isn’t so epic and it’s just…“Oooookaaaayyyyy, lets just do this.”

On the other hand, I wouldn’t want to remember only epic dreams, then I would spend four hours in the morning, just writing down my dreams, making sure I get every detail.

I usually remember them completely, with some things popping back to me as I write them down. Sometimes I forget a dream, and it comes back to me during the day through a key word, or sight.

yeah I have those “meh” dreams as well sometimes haha

and about remembering dreams later in the day, same here! sometimes it’s a few weeks also! They’ll just pop outta no where, but I’m not near my DJ so I don’t bother. I can definitely tell my recall has gotten a TON better ever since becoming an LD-er, and that’s been about a year.

Recall improves dramatically after writing them down and placing importance on your dreams for a long time…

But all (Most) of us tend to enter these periods once in a while, where our recall goes completely to hell, and we can only remember a few scenes or some tiny detail, which takes a few words to jot down in a journal.

It is weird, and I don’t yet know the causes for this, but if it happens to you, don’t give up writing every morning, and just pull through it. :content:

Two weeks ago if you would have asked me how good my recall was I would state it the way Dazino said, ‘It went to hell.’ If you had asked me a week and six days ago, one day later, I would have said that it’s better than I thought. Right now I tell you this: it’s UNBELIEVABLY better than I thought.

The difference? I started keeping my dream journal with more reverence, and while it occaisonally goes back to the flame it’s never a one way trip.

1-2 per night is normal, but it’s not unusual for me to remember 3-4. Really as long as you can remember at least some dreams and you can get them a little more vivid via a DJ or strong thought on them, LD’ing will be a lot easier.

I’ve never heard of that phase before, thanks for the heads up!

I’ve been using a little notepad as my DJ for quite a while, and now that I’m taking this a lot more seriously, I went out and bought a nice leather journal, and I think that taking this a lot more religiously will increase my lucidity

Well, I’m probably a great example of how much a DJ really DOES help…

Without a DJ, I remember 0-2 a night, and not a lot of details unless it was interesting or scary. Lucids are the same way without a DJ. Even if I remember a dream or two in the morning (or after I wake up), if I wasn’t terribly interested in it, I soon forget it.

With a DJ, especially one with most of the details I can remember, I’ll remember 3-6 full dreams a night, and my lucids are much clearer and are more focused while in-dream. It’s usually around four or five full dreams, plus maybe a few fragments and scenes that I don’t know where to put.

Of course, that’s assuming I get a good night’s sleep…
