since i was a kid, ive noticed that i have had a lot of dreams surrounding the topic of big waves. these dreams dont come too often, but they come enough for me to notice a pattern (since ive had quite a few of them). i tried searching up what it means, but the meanings i find tell my that the waves have to do with fear or big challenges. but the waves in my dreams aren’t like that.
most of my wave dreams take place at a beach, lake, or even swimming pool. there would be medium-sized waves in the water, and they would gradually grow bigger. someone in my dream would always warn me to stay back. the waves would get bigger and reach forwards for me, and it would become harder and harder not to get dragged into them and carried away. i would always feel extremely desparate. but i dont feel like the waves symbolize a challenge, nor are they an enemy or negative thing. they are simply there.
for example, last night i had a dream that i walked into a swimming pool. waves in the water raged 70 feet over my head. i stepped into the water and expected to get carried away, but i just rode the wave back to the edge of the pool. the water pulled my back, and i did it again. then a lifegaurd came and told me only to stay about a meter away from the edge, and no farther back. but the water kept pulling me back. it wasnt my enemy, it was just there.
Well, since you don’t feel challenged, and as if the waves just are, maybe it’s your mind’s way of telling you to just go with it. Maybe the wave is life, and you, like anyone else, can do little more than just go with the flow.
well ive considered that possibility before, but i dont think thats it. when the waves come, i dont nesesarilly feel challanged, just extremely desparate. but, like i said, at the same time i dont feel like the waves are an enemy.
I have quite a few nautical dreams, too. I’ve been told that water, especially the ocean, symbolizes the subconscious. But then I go, huhwhat? It’s a dream. A dream is subconscious, why would it need a symbol for itself? So, for me too they tend to just be there. That you’re so near it, though, could maybe mean that you have close association with your subconscious? Maybe it overwhelms your life a little bit sometimes, like writing down a dream when you have a chore to do or an errand to run or something.
