Whats the point to living if you...

work almost all your life. School just started for me and I have 8 hours of school and about 4 hours of homework, which I know will just keep getting more and more and more as highschool progresses. And then I’ll have to go to college, and work even more than that. AND THEN a job where I’ll always be swamped. I cant see a reason to live if you work all the time.

A positive attitude !!
and luv what u do !
College is heaven !
I luv learning… . .I wish i was still in high school
don’t take that for grandit… . . . .
80% of people don’t like their jobs… … . . .
just try to fall in w/ the other 20%
do somethin u luv and for the write reasons…
Take courses your interested in…
even if it’s not necessarily practical…

Kill yourself now, it will be easier on(for) your kids. Or just hit the reset button on the back of your head. (Please, please ,dont take me serious  )

Just an idea: try to get a job you really like

Yeah, I guess you’re all right, i wasnt planning on killing myself btw, im not suicidal.

I have sadly the same thoughts as you…
I guess it would be okay if you got a job that you really like, but sadly i don think most people do… I tink only a few poeple have a job that they actually enjoy.

It’s all about balance !!
Just remember ‘idle hands are the devil’s workshop’
but at the same time… . . don’t be an ant… u know ?
balance it…

U gotta trick yourseldfinto likely things, that u don’t like…
who’s to say work can’t be fun ?

For instance… I luv coffeee… it makes me feel good…
I only let myself drink coffee when i’m at work, school or am studying…
then my body is like… ‘whoa… i like studying… cause i get a coffee high whenever I do it.’

and u can do that w/ a lot of things…
your just conditioning yourself… …

u think dogs like doing foolish tricks ?.. Hellzzzz Nooooooooooo… .
but if they get a cookie for it !! It’s heaven…

I like cookies

Maybe you just looking at things from wrong side.I understand what you wrote perfectly ,i personally would be much more happy with the world without work. And without school.
But after i have finished my schools(yeah im glad its over) i look at it differently. All that subjects, homeworks, learning and stuff is to help you find your own way.By learning so many things you`re able to tell what interests you, what are your pros ,what cons you have. That knowledge gives you strong basis to decide what to do with your life next.
Without school you wouldnt know half of your hobbies and interest.Without school you wouldnt be able to get a girl for a cofee and not make her bored to death.Or get bored with her.
You might now think its all pretty useless but as you go further with your life you slowly discover how lucky you were to get the education.
Cuz people without education risk selling themselves to fat sex tourists:)See it as a chance:)
And work…yes…like it was said before…it is important that you go in direction that interests you.Nothing worst than having a job that you hate(maybe except having a wife that you hate:)

Its apart of growing up, and once your mind gets there, you will realize that working inst bad at all. Just imagine if you sat around everyday? Joy would loose its luster and fun would be re-named. Catch my drift? If your having fun 5 times a week what would you do on the weekends? Everyday would be Friday! :cool_laugh:

There really isn’t any point to life. It’s your job to create your own reason. If you can’t, well then you’re just out of luck like me. Don’t let others try to give you some explanation.

Everyone has their own reason.

That was helpful, and I thought of my post more as philosophy rather than a complaint.

Well the point of school is to get a good job. The point of a job is to get money. Money runs the world. If you work hard in high school an college, you can mantain a fair amount of money. Without money, you could die. The point of life is to live. Not to die. Also, knowledge is power… mwahahahahaha.

Crouching lotus lol you could be a great teacher!
not that you would want to be one , but still!

“Crouching lotus lol you could be a great teacher!
not that you would want to be one , but still!”

I learn to be a great teacher by doing the opposite of what my teachers do.

MM that must be some kind of progressive behaviour then lollol!

don’t listen to everyone else, just turn to drugs, they can always make you happy and put meaning to your life.

And you lose your real life…

The same goes with alcohol. You slowly lose your abilities, and ability to enjoy the life when sober. I have been near to it

Anyway, if you are jobless after ending your school, you might feel what it means having “holidays” 7 days a week. You just survive and you actually do much less profitable things that you would do if working. I admit that many jobs are killing your abilities, but people occupy them, because they can’t have better job (for different reasons). But basically if you are lucky and get somehow decent job, then you at least feel yourself many times better than just having leisure all the time (IMO). And it comes not only from knowing that you get salary from it. It kinda develops yourself too and gives you more confidence and happiness in life.

I guess that with occasional (mental) jobs what i do, i’m happy. Even if i wish to have permanent job. But in other aspect it would hinder my ability to have a control over my time and work during the hours i have chosen. And more time for LD’s for me also

Simple answer: Would you rather be dead?

I didnt say that I wanted to die :bored:

Hehe, yeah. I think it would actually in the end be better to get a job, i think you would get bored…

Well my history teacher tought me some stuff…

You know how in the middle ages they didn’t educate people? They didn’t educate people because education forms opinions and if they had opinions, they might revolt and of course no nobility wanted that. Education isn’t only to have knowledge of your physical world, but it develops opinons, develops personality, teaches you how to react with people (well in preeschool and kindergarten and stuff). It also helps you accept society and realize their are rules to follow, and you have to follow them to let society run it’s path. Without your education you probably wouldn’t be here right now. Education helps get you interested in stuff. The best learners are probably ones interested in the material. School is a good base, but living those days without school helps give you experiance on matters. If I think something is interesting, or controversial, or wrong that the teacher says, I’ll look it up on the internet. It’ll form my opinions. You thought lucid dreaming was cool because you had opinions. One of the best parts of America is you are free (of course). Since you are free you aren’t subject to conformity and you are allowed to think on your own. A quote in my history book said, “One who has not endured the stress of study will not taste the joy of knowledge”. That’s so true. If you don’t work hard you can’t really assimilate anything therefore not giving you knowledge. Have you ever seen something and felt facts and knowledge flow to your thoughts. Maybe not, but it’s happened to me. I hear, see, look or think of something and I feel so much the opposite of ignorant. It’s nice to know when you know how something works and you feel intelligent. Now I’m definetly rambling…

Well that’s my opinion on School… consider it. It’s not really developed because I thought about it on the spur of the moment (I could probably right 2 pages on it but I’m not at school ).

Work…

The purpose of work is to run society and keep a fair way to live for everyone. Well that’s not your question but… What’s happiness without saddness? Excitement without boredom? Pleasure without pain? Yeah, you get the point. As someone above said, if you didn’t do anything than you’d become a hobo and nothing would seem exciting anymore. This is a harder question than school though… I think the purpose of living with work is to live to your max potentional. I wouldn’t consider laying on your couch all day eating potatoe chips and watching TV living. The point of work is to earn money so you can survive I guess. Damn that answer sucked…

I seriously doubt anyone will read any of that. I guess I’m just talking to myself.
