When you started.... ?

Were you just completely oblivious to the dream signs like I am? All the craziest things could happen in my dreams and i’ll never realize it. Like last night i was driving a car in my dream, A highly modded Electric Blue 2008 lancer evolution to be exact, and the gears where all mixed up. Like the First gear was all the way to the right and the 5th (it was the gsr model i guess) was all the way to the left near my knee. As if that wasn’t enough of a sign, I drove it into a building and was driving down the hall of some corporate office or something. The other night in another dream i was looking for my friend and decided that maybe he got swept away by the ocean. My house in the dream was right on the water so i thought that maybe it was possible. So i started walking through the shallow part of the ocean and all these parts from my motorcycle started washing ashore. I don’t know how i didn’t realize that one, in RL i don’t live on the beach, and two why would my motorcycle parts be washing up?? It’s so frustrating!

Well, it’s nothing to worry about.
I mean, if we noticed all the strange things in our dream, we would always be lucid, because there is at least one unrealistic thing in pretty much every dream.

A lot of people experienced this when they were starting, of course.
Just keep on going.

Ya, I’m still at the point where my dreams don’t seem all that clear and vivid when i recall them. They seem kind of blurry and from mixing perspectives. I think one i can start to recall them in more of a real way, i’ll be able to decipher what seems real and what seems out of place.

Yes, increasing the vividness of your dreams will help, but I’ve found my more vivid dreams tend to have less dream signs. That and false memories tend to also make it harder to notice. In time, though, it will become easier and easier to recognize your signs. Keep up with reality checks during the day, as often as possible, keeping doubt in mind every time you do it. It may take a lot of time, or it may happen soon, but eventually it will become clear to you. You will always have to keep reality (or doubt thereof) in mind. That, if anything, is the true key to LD’s.

Don’t worry, I’m also just starting and I also mis the most insane dream signs. Last night I was even flying using just my arms and still I didn’t get lucid, because my RC with my hands failed. I didn’t even notice the flying itself was clearly a dream, because it felt so real. I still very much enjoyed the dream though. :shy:

In my personal experience, the weirdness in dreams has nothing to do with chances of getting lucid. I’ve had some really weird dreams but it’s usually non-weird things that get me lucid in other dreams.

So it’s pretty normal to let them go by. There aren’t any dinosaurs here anymore, but in a dream you won’t question that if you believe you traveled in time or something. It can be that simple not getting lucid

Anyway, I got a lot of that when I started out and I still get it, so nothing to worry about.

I find I get closest to lucidity by talking to someone I know… the giant octopus never seems to confuse me  I miss dream signs all the time, it’s perfectly normal.

for me, when i see things that are real and not weird, it triggers the lucidness. for example, i saw this old friend in a dream, and me and that person very much dislike each other now, and i instantly new it couldnt be real. i figured it was a dream. and i really didnt like that dream either  lol

Last night I found myself staring at a digital clock for about two minutes. I was trying to figure out what time it was and why it was rotating, blinking, flipping, running and showing weird characters…I finally figured it out when I woke up.

In waking life things weren’t much better this morning…I was hammering my alarm clock to make it quit just as long, until I finally found out that it was actually my phone alarm going off. I’m just as stupid in RL, D’OH! :eh:

Yeah, well just last night I had a dream were I somehow was both the actor in a movie at a cinema AND part of the audience at the same time (don’t know how that can feel logical) - I don’t know, but sometimes I was part of the movie and sometimes I watched everything; I guess it was a bit like taking part in a 3D hologram scene or something.

Anyway, I actually started dreaming in the dream, and then I “woke up” into the dream again (LSD-induced much?) - and the dream was also really chaotic and weird in all possible ways.
And guess what? I didn’t notice.
I don’t worry too much because I’ve really been slacking off lately and haven’t cared much about practising dream recall at all, but I will start again very soon, I won’t give up, at least not permanently. :tongue:8)

Oh gosh I miss all sorts of crazy dreamsigns. I actually saw a big pink dinosaur and didn’t react at all, I just pet it and walked away thinking “What a cutie.”
You’re not alone

Lol :gni:

haha I like the the pink dinosaur story. That’s hilarious. Last night i asked a man if i can borrow his phone to text someone to pick me up from a train station. I tried texting but just couldn’t do it. I couldn’t understand what was wrong. Everytime i looked at the screen the letters were all jumbled. I could sort of make out what i was trying to text, but not really. It didn’t hit me until i woke up that it was because i was dreaming. But in the dream i just came to the assumption that I haven’t texted on a phone like that in awhile and must just be bad at it. haha
