Which Method is Better?

Everytime i wake up from a dream in the middle of the night or even in the morning i find myself too tired to write out my dream. So that brings me to this question.

Videotape myself describing my dream
OR
Write out my dream into my DJ

Would writing be more effective? does video recording it and then listening to myself while i type it into my DDJ (Digital DJ) affect my memory of the dream? or affect the process of the whole thing? I’m not sure because it’s so much easier to just stay laying in bed while i describe my whole dream to the camera. although, i seem to get more details out of it if i write it out. so i’m not sure

I think actually writing it would be more effective. Doing so makes you interact and think about the dream more so than the former. It takes more focus and effort to write than it does to speak. Also, speaking can move rather quickly, so you don’t spend as much time thinking about what you are currently focusing on.

I’ve never tried to record myself talking about my dreams, so I can’t say how well that might work. What I used to do, however, if I was too tired to write my full dream down, was to write down important points in my dream journal which I could then expand later. Say I dreamed about going to school and attending class, and meeting a friend, then I’d write it down like this:

Going to school…on the bus…in math class. Saw J. Trouble with homework…etc etc.

That way, I’d remember the dream and I could go back to sleep if I wanted to. Doing this helped me remember more details (good for something like MILD) and I found that my point form notes would remind me very well of what I’d dreamed, so that I could write the entire dream down later that day.
