Why can't the sky be pretty?

Alot of times i don’t really look at the sky in any real observation. Usually my lds are pretty short or low grade so i probably just forget or don’t have the time and stability i’d need to freely review my environment at any mentionable degree. But as for a quick observation id say that the sky always appears in my peripheral vision (because im not looking at it specifically) and seems to appear, like mentioned earlier, kind of gray and unvibrant. But then again the sky comes into as much play as the sky in a video game comes in, im not really watching the sky so its probably generating itself as much as it needs. Although its not always like that. My first decent lucid dream had a beautiful sky, it was a brilliant mixing of purple, fuscia, and blue. the layering of the colors complimented eachother perfectly and the sun itself was a bright smiley face.

I find my mood often dictates my sky, if i am down it is cloudy and sometimes raining.

Sometimes there’s tornados, other times there is plasma storms. (very cool and yet very scary)

One time I remember it was dark, I could see the milky way, galaxies. It was so beautiful. Never though, have i seen the sky in a LD.

Reading this old, old post made me laugh, because the above comes well within my definition of a beautiful sky! Stars and rainclouds are gorgeous and mysterious, and whenever they feature in my dreams (which is sadly not too often) I love looking at the sky. I can’t understand how they wouldn’t be pretty!

I usualy don’t notice the sky in my dreams unless I’m doing something thet involves looking up at it. While flying the sky is usually dark and full of stars. When I’m not too interested in what it looks like then it takes on just a gray color. The best one so far I think is the time I was laying on the grass staring up at it. the clouds were changing colors from blue to differant shades of purple to green and so on. They were swirling in differant places and directions like a 100 hurricanes in the sky but with no wind. I was laying down smoking “dream weed” with my friend and…well, thats another story.

My skies are usually always grey and cloudy too.

I don’t know if I’m going to get hanged for saying this, but I’m usually pretty listless and undecisive in my LD’s- maybe the sky simply reflects our underlying mood?

Occasionally I meet some wonderful skies in my dreams. One time I noticed all the white clouds were changing into giant snails (but still made up of vapor) with sun’s rays sailing between them. During a HI I suddenly saw an immense nightsky completely filled with deep purple cushionlike clouds. In a more recent dream, I saw a string of clouds in the shape of Platonic forms, all rotating pretty quickly as they flew by… amazing view that was.

You might be onto something. The sky representing our inner being, kinda like “as above, so below”. It could also have a spiritual meaning… clouds would then symbolize obstacles or some sort of separation.

In my LDs so far I haven’t really specifically looked at the sky, although I have noticed the lighting. Through my peripheral my skies are normally golden/pinkish. They just let off a dull light, really relaxing…beautiful summer sunsets

My next LD I’m gonna make a special point to look at the sky  I’m dyin’ to know what it’ll look like.

hey everyone… I’ve been lurking here for a while, but this is my first post. ::points under name::

anyway, this thread in particular came to my mind last night in my lucid dream - It had never occured to me to look at the sky, and I went to bed many times in hopes for big planets and glittery stars…

I did a reality check almost right off the bad in the dream by looking at my hand, and I was delighted to see I could see through my palm. I ran outside and down a gravel path to a field and looked right up at the sky, but in that split second before I could focus above me I felt a force shove me to my knees and say “You’re not worthy of the presents in the heavens.”

the next thing I knew, I was awake in my bed…
personally, I think that this is strange and it disturbed me quite a bit.

…ideas?

Hi sepp, welcome to the forum!

Don’t be too disturbed by such dreams, they just happen . It’s not like there is some “higher power” that forbids you from looking to the sky, most likely it is something random, from your imagination, from your subconscious, who knows. Sometimes when you just slightly expect such a thing might happen in your dream, it does. Dreams are highly based on your expectations! So, don’t think too much of it. Good luck with your future LD’s .

Hi

I actually remembered reading how people say that the sky is always amazing. So in one of my previous LD s, i looked at the sky and it was a beauiful purple with colourful stars :content:

All my skys have deep deep blue and I never saw any clouds in them. (kinda boring if you ask me) :bored:

The first time I looked at the sky in my lucid dream, it was a clear, blue sky. The first thing that caught my attention was the planet Saturn, and how big and close it was to Earth. I also noticed a bunch of asteroids hitting Saturn, and I sunddenly lost lucidity because I feared the asteroids were going to hit Earth next. I prefer not to look at my dream sky anymore!

I think I have the worst skies ever! In my last LD I wanted to fly to saturn or the moon, or both, but when I looked up it looked like a picture a 5 year old would make in paint. The background was white, and I saw saturn as a dot with a ring around it, and little dots. 100% 2D.

The skies in my dreams are usually very spectacular. The worst skies I see are just cloudy ones. In a good dream I will see a shiney blue sky or a beautiful thunderstorm with bright lightning flashes. In a great lucid dream, I’ll see a nice starry night, or a beatiful sunrise or sunset

The majority of my dreams take place either at twilight, midnight, or some time in-between. My skies vary–sometimes they’re just pitch black, splashed with sporadic color, similar to mixed watercolors, or just real-life skies.

I don’t really get to into my skies, though. I’m usually too engrossed in the dream plot.

The skies ive noticed in my LD’s were all realistic, as were the terrains, they were just the most vibrant colors I could comprehend hehe. I have seen one of those ungodly shiny skies in a ND though, planets 50 miles away and all lol.

All the LD’s ive had involved me just trying to wield my mighty dreampowers though, not really enjoying the world around me…

sighs

Shout, “PRETTY SKY NOW!”, and then think of this…

xD

I remember now one ND where I saw a lot of clouds, and then there were some small tornadoes in the sky and they mixed with lightning and everything went crazy…Thats all I remember.

I remember directly after September 11th, 2001, all of my dream skies were filled with black smoke, but all of my dream characters didn’t seem to notice. I would shout out (non-lucid) “The sky is filled with smoke!”, but I would recieve nothing but stares from the DC’s.

Nowadays, most of my dream skies are normal unless I will them otherwise for some reason. Blue skies, not many clouds…

I remember seeing the sky through a window once, and since I wanted to see a DC of a vampiric nature, I changed the time to sunset. Instead of being purple/pink/yellow ect. the sky became dark blue with a few stars and light blue colors coming from where I assume the horizon was.
