I’ve got a theory: People with good lives cannot LD, unless used to that.
Just like happy people cannot make good art (Of course, with many exxceptions; It is only a general that the happier a person the less artistic they become), maybe they cannot dream as well?
What exactly do you mean by, “unless used to that”?
I can see where you’re going with this, but I don’t really agree with the generality. While stress and a weird sleep schedule can sometimes bring on more dreams than peaceful sleep, the quality of the dreams (and thus, my chance at getting lucid) is much lower.
Perhaps I was unclear. By “Unless used to that” I mean “unless doing that every night for the past three years” or so.
About the “happy people can’t make good art” - It requires a further inspection, but I ask that you treat it as correct, even if just fro the sake of it.
Plus, I know I am losing the will to LD, even if dreams entirely when I’m enjoying my life.
I have split an off-topic discussion on the effects of Happiness on art to it’s own topic in the Lounge, Here.
I can kind of see that being part of what causes a dry spell, but sometimes it’s just simpler than that
For example, sometimes I just lack the motivation, in more ways than one, I’ll have a dream recall, but I won’t write it down because I’m just too tired (though most of that fault falls on my part), and that lack, I’ve noticed, has affected my rate of LD’s
And then other times, inspiration is the fault, sometimes I just can’t find any, even when looking, like life has become just routine, despite what’s going on (college, etc)
I guess it’s on an individual basis, but I think ‘happy vs. sad’ could have something to do with it
I find this statement quite absurd.
I am very satisfied with my life and I also enjoy LDs.
What does one have to do with the other?
lack of LDs or DR is usually caused by a certain awareness, consciousness, state of mind.
and this also raises the question of what is happy…
for me, talking about lucid dreams with other people, i.e. showing them my reality check, or even this post, after a dry-spell will almost always give me a lucid dream that night. Explaining lucid dreams to people, telling about one you’ve had, listening to another dream, and then performing a reality check in front of others has always gotten me lucid that same night.
I think It’s kinda linked to the moon.
Every full-moon or so I have a couple LD’s back to back.
When there is a very small moon to no moon at all, my dreams tend to be less clear, or I don’t remember them at all.
But thats just my thoughts.
The only way for someone to be truely happy is to be in heaven and i’m pretty sure no one in heaven is on the computer right now. But dryspells have nothing to do with that
Be surprised Dragos Chronos - I know quite a few people who are content with their life, even though they aren’t perfect.
I have moved a post from this topic to the Effects of happiness on art topic. Please stay on topic here and use that topic to discuss the effects of happiness on art.
i thiknk that some people have dry spells because they have had little or no sucsess and feel that it isnt worth thier time. or if people have had lds so much that it loses some of its joy
