Wierd thing in a dream recall

Hi, I’m new to lucid dreaming (Only my second night of keeping a dream journal) but I feel I’m making good progress. I remembered 3-4 different dreams last night, although only two of them were in good detail.

However, in my second one, a couple of wierd things happened. I was basically running this amusement park, and I had built this stupidly tall rollercoaster. The rollercoaster had two tracks, so two trains could go at the same time.

One of the trains sped up around one of the loops, whilst the other stayed at the same speed. The faster train also had a shorter distance to cover. So there was a fast train on a short track, and a slow train on a longer piece. But the wierd thing is this; they both took the same amount of time to finish. I remember watching both of them throughout the whole thing, and it was really, really wierd. Has anyone else had an experience like this, where reality doesn’t work properly?

The second thing that happened was right before the end, where I was getting ready to go out to school, but remembered that I’d lost my bag earlier at the park. I suddenyl had a really deep sense of panic, and then woke up. I don’t know if what happened next is normal or not, but I still felt that deep sense of panic after waking up, and was convinced that I’d lost my bag for about five minutes, before I finally realised that it didn’t actually happen.

I found it wierd because I’ve never been so convinced that something in a dream has actually happened. Also, my emotions carried on through from the dream to waking life without losing any of their intensity, which hasn’t happened to me before.

So I guess my two questions are these;

  1. Can you truly defy logic in a dream, like I described above? Or is it more likely me not remembering things properly? (Although the dream was very vivid)
  2. Is it nomal for my mind to tell me that what happened in my dream actually happened in real life? The only reason I convinced myself that my bag wasn’t lost was because I found it under my bed.

Thanks for any response

Of course, it was a dream! You can’t expect to be real or logical…

Like you described this feeling of deep panic, that actually woke you up, it’s normal to feel it in WL, it had to be strong feeling if woke you up… And that’s maybe why you thought or better say feel that you lost your bag at first, but it’s well known that feelings we experienced in dreams can effect our WL.

Peace!

EDIT: 1. it’s proven that the part of the brain that is responsible for logic during REM cycle is shot down! So it’s hard to expect something logical…

1.Yes, definitely, otherwise how would we fly and change shape and size and make cool stuff happen in LDS?
2.I’d say its quite normal, when i lost my pencil case in grd 7 i kept on having dreams that i found it that transferred to RL, so i was again surprised when i didn’t have it

Also about the emotions, i love having really intense dreams like that, that when you wake up you remember the dream feeling super vividly.

  1. Of course! Dreams are nonsensical, yet very symbolic. Logic is a foreign concept to dreams and dreaming.

  2. You would not believe the number of false memories I get from dreams. I can’t even remember half the ones that I got the memories from. It’s very confusing in real life.

Thanks for the replies guys, sorry I’m a bit late.

I guess I should have expected it to be normal, actually. Considering the rules of real life don’t have to apply. I’ve had a couple of other weird things happen over the last couple of weeks, like I woke up after having a dream in a classroom, and the teacher was calling names, and when he got to me I woke up, but answered in real life! It was quite confusing.

Also I nearly had my first LD a couple of days ago  I did an RC, and after my fingers went through my hands, I started to “disappear” from the dream, if you know what I mean. I tried looking for something to focus on, but at the time I was walking in pitch black, and couldn’t find anything. Maybe next time!

Actually yes, I had that. The coaster’s second hill was higher then the first and I was like, “WTF? That’s not possible!”

Haha, well because I am a big fan of thrill rides, I tend to see them a lot in dreams. I’ve had the bigger hill thing happen, as well as going on one whilst in space, and falling out of trains countless times, too!
