WILD-almost there?

the first time I tried, I payed to much attention to the colors in the early stages instead of observing them “passively”. now, I can get past that state easily, I can see the HI and hear HS , just a few minutes ago I saw a creepy old lady with red eyes and a long neck with short, gray hair in this state, while I heard what sounded like an action movie playing in another room, neither of which were real… It was only the head and neck that I could see.strangely, I didn’t get scaredor anything, but there was a kind of WTF feeling. Now anyway, I know its interesting to watch the random things your mind throws at you in these stage[/b]s, but I’m still trying to get an LD, and this seems to be the part that I keep getting stuck on.
I usually try when I go to bed at night, or take a nap. I haven’t tried it with WBTB yer, I was going to, but the alarm clock on my phone didn’t wake me up.
So, my question is, what should I do now? Should I relax more? Or do I need to wait 90 minutes or whatever for an rem cycleif I’m not using WBTB? :help:

I’m not expert, but I’ve heard that WBTB was the only technique with which beginners really had a chance of succeeding with WILD. I definitely agree that HI can be very random, and I haven’t been luck enough to experience HS yet. If you get that far at night, then you should have no problem getting lucid in the morning.

WILD is difficult.
First try to focus on making a dream journal, and MILD. Those techniques are most effecive. After that, try WILD

For sure if you’re going to do WILD do it 5-6 hours after first going to bed. Even experienced WILD’ers have an easier time then. You go back into REM much faster and you’ll skip most of the unpleasant side effects like the old hag and other more distracting HH. Another bit of advice that helped me is to not worry about doing it right or how difficult it is. Just relax, keep telling yourself that you’re dreaming and let the dream come.

Don’t let the name fool you, you have to fall asleep to do WILD (after all, how else can you dream unless asleep). It’s about staying aware of the fact that you’re dreaming while you begin to dream. This is why it’s difficult right when you go to bed. Your mind has to get through the deep sleep cycles, and it is very difficult to stay aware through those.

Stay relaxed, stay aware and let the dream come to you, don’t try to seek it out. That is the easiest way to WILD.

P.S. what you experienced is what is known as the Old Hag. It’s common to experience in SP or WILD in the early stages of sleep. It’s basically just your mind filling in the blanks as it tries to come up with a reason why your body can’t move.

Good luck, and welcome to the forum :content:
