I took about a month of from doing MILD to try the WILD technique to see if it was any better. After a month of not getting very far, people advised me (on this forum) to just stick to what works, and that the LD’s brought about by both are the same. However, I decided I wanted to try two methods, MILD while I am going to sleep, and WILD for WBTB. However, I was never doing very well with the whole WILD technique, so I figured I would practice it everynight instead of MILD to see if I could get better at it. The first night everything was diffrent! It was like I was a pro at it, and didn’t even know it. I had the HI, then my body started to feel like it was vibrating, then it went numb. I kind of blacked out for I don’t know how long, but when I gained consiousness I was still in SP. So I figured I would try to develop a dream scene in my head to get me started, but I became unconcious again.
I think I found my problem though. I was laying on my side (right), and I would never go as far as SP when I did so. So on the first night I said “screw it” and rolled on my back and tried it that way. Man, it was like instant results. I felt a heavy, sinking feeling, then a bouncing feeling, body tingling then vibrating. Even though I didn not get a LD out of it, it was still cool. Has anyone else ever done better at WILD while sleeping in a more comfortable position?
This will be a bit mean, but are you sure you weren’t dreaming it? I’ve had that before: a sudden ability to visualise and after a while and some wierd sounds and feelings be in that dream.
When I eventually wake up the different taste of the air (I can’t describe it any other way) tells me I was dreaming then and am awake now. sigh
I have noticed that after laying in any position for quite a while, when I change to a different position (which positions don’t matter)there is an instant body reaction of feeling more relaxed and comfortable, and if you’re at the right point of sleepiness, you may go under pretty quickly.
Why does it matter? If it gets you lucid easily then it is a good technique.
I have never had WILD yet. But I am very hopeful!! My dream recall has picked up dramaticly. So I willtry again. This time I’ll lay on my back as you said.
Laying on my back works the best for me. And WILD is easy for me, and can be for everyone. You just have to know it is and it will be. Remember LDing is mostly in the mind.
Well, it isn’t really very lucid because you don’t know that your “dream first level” is not real life. You only realise about your “dream second level”.
Last night I finaly got it! I was spinning (or the feeling of) and I had just spun into a dream where I was flying. I immediatly did a RT which failed (it was the coolest one I have ever done, where I put my finger through my hand. The feeling itself was worth doing it) and I realised I had entered my dream through WILD. I had about a 5 minute LD where I flew for awhile, then tried to change scenery a little bit. Most of all I just focused on keeping the LD going, which I think I need the most work on.
r2m0t: I’m pretty sure it wasen’t a dream. I had total awareness, but could not move. I expected something to happen (me to levetate) and it did not come about. Although I could have just not believed it could happen, but I really think I was in SP.
Freecube: Everyone told me lying on my right side is the best for them, but I guess everyone is diffrent. It is becoming easier as I work with it more.
Wow! I think I am going to try WILD. I’ve started to get clearer Hypnogogic Hallucinations. I notcied that if I concentrate too hard it goes away. So I just have to let my mind wander, but be careful to stay away from the imagery, untill that is all their is.
No, because if he said he could control it then it would be lucid. Whether it was a first stage or second stage dream. Either way, you could say that the first level and the second level are really on the same level, because both levels occur whilst dreaming.
