1.When im into the WILD technique, i start to move off course, and think about my surroundings, and i get off my objective
I have tried it 5 times, but i give up after about 20 minutes, because nothing happens, not even sleep paralysis
How long does it take?
2.Can i clear my throat and swallow my spit and stuff like that while im in the WILD technique,
To me it looks like your trying too hard, and you’re thinking that you have to try, but you don’t. You don’t have to try. You have to relax and clear your mind out of any thoughts during the day. You should keep in mind that " I’m going to WILD. "
Sleep Paralysis depends. For me it might come in 15 minutes or 30 minutes. Sleep Paralysis will trigger when your body is completely relaxed and when your brain thinks you’re falling asleep. When Sleep Paralysis is at hand you start feeling really tired, and it’s easy to drift into thoughts and into sleep.
You should also start feeling numbness and floating/spinning before SP or during it.
So If you don’t feel anything, you’re not relaxing your body. You should try relaxing your body during the day, since it’s a bit easier. ( I think ) This way you could learn to do it better at nights. ( That’s what I do. )
It can be difficult to keep the object of your concentration at the forefront of your thoughts, especially if you have only just begun to practice WILD induction techniques. Give it time, it’s not an easy technique. You might try meditating daily, particularly a mindfulness meditation, to help increase your ability to concentrate on a single thought. With time, your ability to keep your mind cleared and centred will increase.
I once felt like floating inside my own head, it was really weird caus it was like I was falling inside my head getting very little and then I just was alone with my thoughts hearing them loudly (still floating). I am not sure if I was near SP nor WILD but u guys probably know, and thx for the tip (now I dont have to have a dry throat)
Thanks a lot MaximumLD! For me, when I attempt WILD, it’s almost as if my body is jolting me a bit (I think these are the vibrations that people have talked about on this forum). Unfortunately, these usually make me shift my position after awhile which is not good . btw, how long does it usually take to get HI with this technique?
You should never switch your position when you are trying to LD. Switching position will just cut the whole SP off. It’s important to just relax. I’ve had these “jolts” too but they aren’t marks of SP (If i’m talking about the same thing.) I think they are more like your muscles somehow getting used to the relaxing state.
I have noticed that when you are energized and have moved alot and you try to relax, your muscles just want to kinda move.
I also got a bit uncomfortable on the position I started with at first, but after a while you don’t even feel your hands, your legs, your head, your pillow. It all goes away. But this is not SP yet, this is just the numb feeling which comes from relaxation.
Small jolting or vibes on your back isn’t the real deal. The vibration of SP is pretty enormous and it usually goes into your full body starting from legs/hands. You know it when it comes.
HI should appear after your body has fallen into Sleep Paralysis. But when it’s done you should be concrentated and not fall asleep, because when you reach the numbness stage you start feeling really tired. (At least I do.)
Thanks a lot for the explanation MaximumLD! That really helped me a lot . One more thing: would using WBTB with WILD help because to me it seems that for WILD you already need to be very tired and the point of WBTB is to wake you up and make you more conciously aware so wouldn’t that make it even harder to WILD? Nyways, sorry for sounding so noobish .
Not really, from what i’ve read having a clear head is vital to WILD as you need to focus rather than being muggy and drifting off into sleep, WBTB helps in that you awaken your mind, however this may not include your body. If you want to, try using WBTB and when you wake up try and limit physical movement so as to remain relaxed while at the same time try to mentally wake yourself with simple exercises such as doing simple math, reciting your name and date, going over your LDing goals will also help, hell if you want to you could mentally go down the procedures and steps for each LDing technique so as to awaken your memory.
At least as long as it takes you to fall asleep. Think about it.
If you can do this when you go to sleep regularly (and I think you can) then the same goes for WILD.
I agree that it is very bad for dream chaining, but if you cannot fall asleep in a certain position or feel so uncomfortable that you cannot think about anything else anymore, then changing position might help.
There is some confusion about “staying aware” vs. “staying awake”. You can of course never have a LD while you are awake. WBTB is good for people (like myself) who do not have an easy time falling asleep while keeping certain thoughts ( = staying aware), because we are tired enough in the morning to fall asleep without problems. If you can fall asleep easily, you can probably do weird things with WILD when first going to sleep as well. Otherwise, WBTB helps to combine the aware/asleep states. It also has the advantage that you can go straight into REM.
Ionflux, seems like you have analysed the techniques, then u or someone else might explain to me what I shall do when I try to WILD lying on one position but gets tired after lying there for 40 minutes witout any sleep, I have only managed to WILD once and it was kinda cool but I lost Lucidity after a while
So please if someone have any tip on how I should be lying on the bed and so, please let me know (and of course other tips )
DreamWalker_5, it really depends of what kind of a sleeper you are. If it takes you 40 mins to fall asleep regularly at night (sometimes takes me longer if I am not very tired), then WILD will be very difficult at that time.
If it takes you 40 min with WBTB, then maybe you are trying WBTB too late in the morning, when you have already slept enough. From my experience, WILD works best after 4-5 hours of sleep (i.e. not enough for most people so they are still quite tired).
On my successful WILDs it usually takes me only minutes to fall asleep, sometimes even less. But I have had some great MILDs with WBTB after lying awake for an hour or so.
You basically have to experiment a little and see what works best for you.
Haha, thx for the tip Ion, well I usually sleep after 10 - 15 min sometimes less and sometimes more like 1 - 3 hours, well I never tried WILD with WBTB method caus I thought I was supposed to use WILD directly, and I kinda am to tired to use it with WBTB which I only have done once, well anyway thx again
