[WILD] when to ''jump'' into a dream?

I just love the WILD technique, it has something magical which other techniques just don’t have. When I’m in the hypnagogic state (I experience it like the short movies before a movie starts: You know it isn’t the real movie yet but something it’s hard to say) it can be really difficult to recognise whether I’m already dreaming and very often I ‘’‘jump’’ in to the dream too early.
Are there some tricks and tips to know if you are dreaming?

I can’t really give you a set “point” to know that you’re in a dream… Often I don’t have HI when WILDing or DEILDing. (I’ve only successfully DEILDed so far, no WILDs yet.) Usually it’s just darkness and a bit of a buzzing feeling as SP if I happen to feel it. Usually I wait until I “know” instinctively that it’s most likely a good time to get up and start walking around. However, I did try interacting with a dream too early the other day. Annoyed me a bit, since I don’t usually do that, and I ended up falling asleep after it. Really, for me, I just usually “know” when it’s been long enough and I can start interacting with the dream. Not very helpful, I know, but that’s my experience with it. :meh:

in a certain technique where you go to your dream WILDing, if you’re in your bed, you can check by making your dream body sink into the bed or rotate in it. that way you don’t have to move your real body and ruin the WILD. that’s all i can say about it… i can’t WILD myself, but i just thought i’d try, maybe this would be helpfull to you.

That seems a great tip. I’ll certainly try it out when I get the chance.I’ll keep you posted.

The sensation of movement is the best hint, however I’ve to say that it’s not yet the point that you are, in fact, inside the dream.

You should wait until it gets more solid. I mean, just when the movement start, you may already have HI and HS, but you don’t feel much immersed in there.

After floating for… like 1 or 2 minutes, at that moment, you can try to look at them, when you are able to see them, it’s already in dream state.

Also, another technique visualize the dream scape while floating, you can create that in any way you like, keep visualizing it until you can actually “land” in there from floating.

PS: you will not be able to wake up so easily after getting in that stage, then, don’t be too afraid about waking up.

PS2: Remind yourself about your situation (I’m doing WILD here and etc) and wait a minute or two for dream stabilization. But, don’t be too afraid about loosing your control or senses in there, stay focused and confident and it will be much easier than expected.

Last night I had another succesfull WILD. But again I went into the dream too early. I already saw my dreambody moving around in the dream so I thought it was time to take over control. But when I took over control the dream was vague and I woke up in a minute or so.
I’ll keep trying, better luck next time.

that does sound like success to me  only for a very short time  don’t lose your motivation!

Actually. In a true WILD, you don’t really need to jump. You will hit SP (and you KNOW when you hit it) and you will be manually booted into the dreamworld
I usually end up in a dream bed in a dream version of my house

if you don’t hit SP or something like that you may have breaks in being awake, which does indeed happen

I did that same thing as TheUltimateReaper mentioned this morning. Often when I WILD or DEILD (especially WILDs, which often start like OBEs for me), I end up in my dream bed and dream house. I don’t usually get HI if I have a successful one. I recall one time out of a few that I had HI, and that’s only because I was vividly daydreaming when I woke up and was able to focus on that to go back in. However, this morning, I don’t recall keeping awareness through my whole WILD… the first thing I remember is doing a working RC in darkness, like I might with a WILD or DEILD. It worked, so I got up into the dream, first trying to visualize some sort of surroundings other than my house, but that didn’t happen.
