Wild with ADD?

Well to summarize everything, I have A.D.D, and I read somewhere that having ADD can cause your mind to race when you’re trying to sleep, and that causes you to stay awake and lose sleep. And that explains why I haven’t had many successful WILDs. I sometimes stay completely still for hours, but never end up actually sleeping. How could I fall asleep easier? Also, it doesn’t have to necessarily be falling asleep lucid, falling asleep in general would be good.

Do you take ritalin, or adderal, or anything for your ADD?

You can try taking 5-HTP, or valerian root, or something before sleeping.

Lol at you having 9001 lucid dreams. That’s around one dream per night for ~25 years, and you’re 15.

Also, it’s an internet meme.

But anyway, you do fall asleep during the night usually, don’t you? A good first step would be learning how exactly you manage to fall asleep. It usually involves forgetting about the body to the point it relaxes completely, plus your thoughts getting more relaxed and far apart, and sliding into a more relaxed state of mind overall. After you do that, a WILD is basically doing the same thing, only this time using a gimmick of sorts to keep you conscious during the process. So I’d suggest going one step at a time  Good luck with your LD’s! ^^

Was not aware.

(Didn’t take it seriously, either.)

Obligatory informative link.

To keep on topic, why don’t you try meditating a bit? It helps immensely in calming the mind and soothing the spirit. ^^

Also, you could try stretching out and relaxing your muscles before bed if you’re someone who fidgits a lot.

You just described how to WILD in like 1 sentence. Most tutorials take pages and pages of information to do that.

So, you fall asleep like normal (just keep your mind blank), but don’t keep it completely blank?

I have problems WILDing too.

WCH Just got owned hahaha

Sorry couldn’t help it

@ Gutana

I have ADD as well, no problem sleeping though. But I have a few tips for you I got from the ‘sleep-hospital’ in the Netherlands. I got those tips because I had problems falling asleep and ‘sleep terror’, a parasomnic disorder. These symptoms were probably related to ADD.

Well, these were the tips:

  • Only use the bed for sleeping and sex (no reading, tv, computer etc.)
  • No tv, computer, radio etc. can be present in bedroom/ bed-area
  • !! Do not watch tv, use computer or do any hyperconcentrated for at least 1 hour before going to sleep. !! (you can read, fiction only) :shy: !!

The last trick is MOST IMPORTANT!

And do not take Ritalin before sleeping, it will prevent you from falling asleep!
Times to take ritalin: 08.00 AM, 12.01 PM, 16.01 PM (take 4 hour steps), don’t take them after dinner.

Haha thanks :content:

Anyway, the main difference would be being slightly aware of the thoughts progressing, instead of being caught in them; getting distracted from them would be the one of the main ways, as many WILD-ish techs do (counting, waiting, FILD …), others proceed in allowing consciousness into the processes that induce dreams (like VILD, or regular WILD).

Hmm, doesn’t being aware of them require thinking? which is what you are NOT supposed to be doing?

You could say being aware of your thoughts is to thinking as listening is to talking. So you don’t have to be thinking, even if some thoughts are indeed taking place (or what would you be listening to?).
In fact, the mind really does never stop thinking; if it did, that would be brain death. It’s just different kinds that are observable at any time (like dreams during the night). So, in order to become consciously aware of them, you just “listen” to the transition, instead of sticking to the day-like thoughts, that keep the mind and body awake.
