Currently i’ve turned February into a WILD month for myself by focusing on practicing the WILD technique when i go to bed and then again when i do WBTB every night to try and get the right time to do it.
I know that “mastering” WILD takes months if not years of practice and a dedicated dreamer, but for me i’ve had a few small experiences where i have had times when i’ve felt some sort of shudder in my leg or borderline SP (so far no luck with Hynagogic Imagery though) but what i want to know is this.
How long do most people practice WILD before experiencing SP? i myself have tried the 61 point method of LaBerge but haven’t really gotten it yet so i just relax my body by breathing in and tensing sections one after the other but so far no success on the SP front.
Im willing to be patient and all that Jazz its just that progress markers like SP or HI are great motivation boosters or indications of heading in the right direction.
Took me a good half a year to get into SP. Then I got in it again the next night…and then a week after that! But now I don’t get into SP anymore because I’ve slowed down on my WILDing. I’ll get back into it again I’m sure.
Well I myself have only been practicing WILD for about 4 months and I haven’t gotten a full lucid dream yet but ever since the first time I tried to WILD i experienced both SP and HI. I’m not sure if theres any real trick to it I just lay down and relax making sure I’m not using a single muscle in my body(except my tongue i cant help but move it but funny once i never did and i experienced sp in my tongue for the first time! Wierd…) and I just lay there for about 5-10 minutes before anything really starts to happen. At that point I get the falling or floating feelings (which btw are AWESOME) and yeah…haven’t really gotten much further except the transition stage which is really hard I still dont know how to get into a dream from there… Anyways I hope my rambling helped you atleast a little bit and good luck!
Personally, I think that HI comes about alot more readily if you begin to day dream for about 10-30mins (ofcourse, combined with WBTB). After a while, things become actual dream sequences that you can observe for a while without having to day dream (Essentially- HI.You may/ may not get SP during the dream sequences or day dreaming). Soon, the dream sequences might start weirding up and everything goes black. Just last night I had this and I was hearing very weird things and woke up semi-SP. I had trouble keeping my eyes closed (sleeping mask might help for that if you have that when you reach success ) and I woke up. This took about 3-4 weeks, so practice and you will eventually acheive success (it is worth it )
SP is also ALOT more than a shudder in your leg I’m afraid but I guess that differs between people.
Thanks for the responses guys, seems that as i thought it can vary wildly (goddamit is there anyway i can post without making a damn pun?)
Thought it would be like that, once you experience something i guess doing it becomes easier due to a) experience b) undeniable validation that you can do it and doubt disapeers.
Ill have to work on relaxtion though, ive layed still for over 15 mintues though with zero movement, i think i should try that daydreaming a bit more, im a good day dreamer so maybe thats the avenue to stroll.
Any more responses will still be appreciated to gain some measure of how random the achievement process can be or if there is some sort of average to go for.
I’ve been practising WILD without and with WBTB for almost a year now… got to the transition 3 times and in a LD once, but my sleeping patterns are normally quite variable so think 'll get better to it when I’ll have the possibility to regularize them a bit
Im guessing both that and experience, something like that would require quite a bit of training i imagine which i guess is why so many new people are encouraged to use WBTB or a nap as a launch point for their training.
Most people are encouraged to use WBTB but i’ve only tried that once and I had no success what so ever because I just wake up and fall asleep! Other than that I WILD atleast 4 times a week and I usually get as far as the transition or I just fall asleep. I don’t know what it is but I just don’t understand how people don’t ever get to the HI stage. I guess it all depends on the person?
I guess, i see stories of those who skip SP or skip HI for their WILD’s
For me i find WBTB effective provided i remember to get up and force myself to do it properly, but lately due to late nights and school i normally wake up at 4:30am (i always do these days) and pick up my alarm clock and put it under me to muffle it and then remember to push the button and turn it off.
I normally get near the transition without WBTB, but had a LD only with it… the problem is that I fall asleep if I do WBTB and can’t sleep after trying without so I can’t practise much
Mmm, I’ve been trying to WILD every night without WBTB for like 6 months and haven’t even gotten to sp. I’ll get it one of these days and be able to WILD whenever I want! You’ll see! You’ll all see!
I see no reason to postpone it, more LD’s while a confidence booster are mainly just practice for whatever tech it was you used to do them, thus the only way to get better with WILDs is to attempt WILD’s.
