Willing for lucidity? Will it to happen...

Ok, someone on the forum was talking about an induction technique where instead of doing anything, you just relax, acklowledge your want/longing for a lucid dream and think about whatever drifts into your mind.

Can someone elaborate on this technique (we may be on the way to developing a new technique… or not)?

well it is a bit difficult to say if it is just autosugestion or not…
i belive it is cause it isnt only AS to “say to yourself” what you want… in a way placebo effect is also well sugestion in an case…

defensive mechs are also i would say auto sugestion and you just make up the best story for you in your brain so… willing it, telling yourself to, even lying to yourself i would all put it in the same box and label it autosugestion…

the good thing is that it really works… (not talking about this tech but in general) i belive that you can use AS for a lot of things, from incresing your dream recall to selfinflicting wounds in extreme…

so to finish i would say that there is a thin line between willing and autosugesting… if you think about it you can never know if that stuff in antibiotics help you really or is it just another placebo (going to extreme again to make a point)…

whatever it is i hope it will help you get as many LDs as you want!!

That thing about anitbiotics really has me thinking…

And I haven’t actually used this, but last night a tried willing myself, and I let my thoughts wander…

it was as if a dream was forming over the thing I willed (to have a lucid dream). I remembered my intention but I didn’t get lucid.

As far as I can tell, the willing technique is jsut acknowledging you’ll have a lucid dream as a fact, rather than trying too.

I’m gonna try it out sometime when I’ve got my dream recall up really high, in between VILD.

How’s VILD working for you?

Well I’ve been just trying to get sleepy enough to do VILD, when I try it most of the time I’m not sleepy enough.

So yeah. But the closest I’ve been to actually incubating the correct dream and getting an LD is that it was the same setting, I just wasn’t talking to the person I needed to be, and therefore no reality checks were performed. However I did give up incubating before I actually went to sleep, so I reckon if I kept it up I would have got lucid.

I just need to practice it. I’m good at visualising the dream now, all I need to do is to do it over and over while falling asleep.

I just need to time it right!

Also, I want to see how if VILD is affected when combined with WBTB.

Thanks for asking, incidentally.

I never tried VILD yet… I’ll try it tonight and see if it’ll work.

It takes more than one night!

It takes practice (not just with me, but lots of people say this)

But good luck Aviran!

I had a cool dream last night - I’ll use that dream for my VILD… In the dream I saw a short movie on YouTube. The short movie was about dreams - a man said: "If you want to get lucid - Imagine yourself in a place with a lot of rocks. You can avoid of the rocks, or blow them up. That’s all, I’ll use it tonight and I’ll improve it, I’ll write again tomorrow.
