I am just curious to hear what other people think about windows 7.
I downloaded the release candidate for it a few months ago. So far i think it works very nice, the way Vista should have. So i would have to say that i like it.
It is wrong however that Microsoft Released such a crappy OS as Vista, fix the bugs, and then sell it as a new OS.
hmmm…im running visa now would you say win 7 has any true difference or is it just a debugged and polished vista?if that’s the case im probably just going and geting an imac
but so im contributing:i have heard good things about win 7
when i upgraded, it ran faster, and much smoother than vista, it has a few nice features that vista doesn’t. I couldn’t tell you whether it would be good for you or not.
Personally I think it is the best OS i have ever used.
It’s what they’ve been doing since forever. The 4 versions of NT are each one the upgarde of the one before.
They polished Windows 95 and released Windows 98.
Windows 2000 (or ME) was total crud, so they polished it and released it as XP instead.
Now 7 is just the same thing they’ve been doing for years.
i agree 100% but there isnt much we can do about it,its one of,if not The,largest companies in the world, its true that lately Apple has become more than just an obscure little company and has started to chip away the monolith that is Microsoft but its still amounts to little,
Microsoft can do pretty much what ever it wants,i watched a documentary on G4(??) about how Microsoft is,or at least in the past,a mafia-like company that dose whatever it wants behind closed doors,i will try and find a link and post it if i can.
and of course there are the rumors that bill gates essentially stole the original Source Codes for windows, witch would sorta explain the way apple acts the way it does about the iphone app store, itunes, etc…
While I’m not certain about how evil Microsoft really is (Since they do some really nice stuff OS-wise…) I can safely state that Apple is overrated.
You need to understand: The vast majority of the world today uses Windows (Wikipedia claims 85% - 93% market share.) That doesn’t leave too much space for Apple, especially since it’s aimed at higher class people.
About rumours of stealing the original windows source code - I think that’s a bit of an exaggeration. Windows was definitely not the first OS of it’s kind (Xerox etc), but I find it hard to believe it’s source code was stolen (Since it was based on DOS, which was an original piece of code). Either way, Microsoft did NOT steal any source code from Apple - The two OS work in a fundamentally different manner.
Apple is much of a fuss, as far as I know. Their EULA is very restrictive (When you examine it, it makes you think Microsoft had written it…), and their OS only works on a specific sort of computers - Lacking the modularity of both Windows and of course Linux.
Right. The question isn’t whether Microsoft is “good” or not, though - The question is whether Apple is better or not. Apple is indeed acting as a monopole and as a “bad” company very often – it is just not generally investigated.
you do have a point and honestly, your probably right,i do think Microsoft is big to the point that it can “bully” its way to get what it wants, however I’m sure there is a company like it in every market.
i do have a habit of cheering on the side of the underdog, but i will agree that Apple fanboys are annoying(you seemed to be hinting at that towards the end )
and the prices are outrageous,so ill just stick with my acer 5100s
I downloaded the RC too a while ago and am still using it, i dont think it’s crappy but there’s really nothing new or “exciting” out there. It’s really just what Vista should have been like since the beginning. Though i always think linux is much better. And hey slanderous, nice to see that i’m not the only one watching G4 here
I haven’t looked into Windows 7 yet and as a Vista user who so far have had no problems whit it i feel i’m not in such a hurry to move towards the “new” OS.
Perhaps i’ll put a copy in my basket one day when i’m shopping for something.
There are of course some nice point whit Windows 7 such as many of the bug-fixes and service packs for Vista are already built-in so there’s less need to spend time patching the OS. Also a nice feature i heard it have is that it supports color mangement at the lowest driver level wich is a plus for people that works whit color critical applications. (Or people like me whit “wide color gamut” screens that in many cases might need color manegment just to get reasonable accurate colors in everyday work)
But other than that there’s no need for at least me to upgrade…i’m already using a reasonable fast computer whit (At then) modern equipemt and i patch the OS often so i’ve never experienced slowdows or nasty driver issues wich plauged early Vista adopters wich perhaps a bit unfairly gave it the reputation it has.
