I notice a handful of wolf avatars here on ld4all.
Wolves are cool, yeah, but I want to learn more of peoples opinions on them.
What brings this to mind is that I had a dream that worries me.
I was outside of a little house. I see a pack of wolves, and they are coming to get me.
I run inside as fast as I can, but as I turn to close the door, a couple of snarling wolf jaws are at my hand and one of my hands gets cut but their sharp fangs. I barely get the door closed. My hand is bleeding and hurts.
So i woke up and duh, it’s just a dream and I’m okay, but I still feel bad about this.
I don’t even want to leave the house today because what if something bad happens to me.
I just reread what I typed and I can’t believe how weak I am! I’s such a sissy this morning, but I swear, I was strong, bold and fearless yesterday.
Just because wolves were used doesn’t necessarily mean wolves. Think of dreams as a massive metaphor. Maybe you are afraid of something hurting you. Are you generally afraid of wolves? Because that would explain why wolves were used. If you generally identify yourself with the animal wolf then perhaps you are afraid of hurting someone?
Totally. I have a phobia of drug needles, and I seem to dream about them a lot. On the other hand, don’t take your dreams too seriously. When I wake up from a nightmare, I just laugh at myself how stupid I am that I didn’t realize that was a dream. Get out of your house, because both you and I know that you can’t get attacked by a pack of wolves (well only if you live in Bulgaria D ).
Really. I’m not afraid that if I go outside that I am actually going to get torn apart by wolves. I’m not afraid of wolves. I love dogs very much, but of course if I was out in the wilderness I would be afraid if wolves really did start to attack me, but point of this post was to gather people’s ideas, feelings of wolves. Even experiences.
It’s like I rather ask several people, “So how do you view Wolves? What’s your ideas on Wolves?” rather than just looking into a dream dictionary.
And of course I have to analyze myself too.
I do understand that dreams are symbolic and I do my own interpretations.
This dream stumps me for some reason, so I decided to ask around and then I will sort out the information I get with further insight like my intuition and next coming dreams.
Also, a couple of days ago, I made a dreaming goal to find out my power animal, so if getting attacked by wolves is a clue, then I’d really like to know more about wolves for maybe it is an animal that will help me to combat my current inner fears.
BTW, I don’t feel all worried anymore. I guess there is a form of strength in being able to admit weakness.
If it’s a discussion on wolves then it probably should be in the cloud.
And if you think your power animal is the wolf, then congrats. And don’t worry about them being your metaphor. In one of my dreams (actually one of my nightmares) I saw the white wolf (a figure I associate myself with) very aggravated and eating a bloodied carcass. It freaked the crap out of me when she looked at me, as if she saw through me and as if I shouldn’t be there. It was the first time I dreamt of her and I still wonder about it.
And if you want to just have a topic about wolves and not dreams then maybe get this moved to the cloud, because I thought it was about dreams. XD
Oh, I thought it was about wolves so I was going to jump in on how I think wolves are really wonderful creatures that I adore and admire ALMOST as much as leopards.
I’ve dreamt about wolves, though. Actually I even was one in a dream before, and I’ve battled some as well. But for me it’s all cool stuff. Very little, if anything, in my dreams actually scares me.
Yeah, this topic is about Wolves. I guess it should be moved to the Cloud?
But of course it will be great if we still mention our view of them within dreams too!
I now remember a time a few years ago where I was dreaming of wolves a lot. It was neutral, no attacks, no companions, but they were just there.
I’ll be in Wyoming next year from January until some time in May. I’m hoping to have some time to visit Yellowstone Park or some other places that have (wild) wolves.
Wolves aren’t big and bad. Wolves are animals. They live in pack form and only attack for food or when they feel their pack is threatened. Really, it depends on your perception of wolves.
It seems like so many people have been afraid of wolves for thousands of years. That’s why they have a bad character in many old stories. But I did find some good stories of them! Like of them being gods…and I can’t remember what else, but they have been worshiped in places and times.
They are fearless creatures and I like how they work together.
There’s the book A Philosopher and his Wolf about a man who chose to adopt a wolf cub and keep it as a pet. Pretty interesting, also quite deep at times.
Wolves… Symbol of wilderness, of savageness, of return to instincts, to nature; hunts by endurance and in packs, symbolizes willpower and intent, the power of the group, also is a venerated animal in American indigenous, often serves them as a guide, a teacher. One of the favorite animal guides, apparently.
About you dream, #Six, you should ask yourself who those wolves really are, and why are they chasing and hurting you. Is it just them, or are you also allowing them to do this to you cause of your fear? What would happen if you just faced them head-on? I hope you will find the answers you seek.
On the topic of wolf books… My all time favorite wolf story would still have to be White Fang by Jack London. It’s a hundred years old and pretty short, but it’s incredibly well written.
It’s only 140 pages. Surely you don’t call that long? o.O
Most of the novels I have lying around have upwards of 600-700 pages. Even the shorter ones are around 300 or so. Ah well, different strokes for different… gals.
But yeah, it is definitely an excellent read, and really gives you an idea of how an animal psyche might work (albeit a bit romanticized).
I can’t remember if I read that when I was young, like 10 years old. I think I did. But I do remember watching the movie. Not the cartoon one, but the one in 1991 staring Ethan Hawke.
I always get all teared up when the mother animal dies in movies! But it’s a good cry.
Thanks for the questions! Sometimes I need help with just the right questions in order for the right answers to come. I’ve got a lot of answers now, and still so much wonderful stuff to meditate upon.
Well, I’ll have to remember to check the library for White Fang.
