Hi! I hope everyone who reads this is exceedingly well
Last night I shook things up a bit and took some B6 and gingko, also refraining from any substance that would impair my recall. I had a very vivid dream far different than my usual mundane ones.
I am in the backseat of a cab, going down a freeway. The cab driver and I look up to see the moon, unusually huge and full. As we marvel at the spectacular view of the craters we realize that the moon is rushing towards us (in dream slow-motion of course). There is a huge chunk in the back that was blown off, the moon is on fire and is going to kill us all. I lay down, terrified at the pain I know is coming but calmly I accept my fate, at least it will be over quickly. I watch in a sideview mirror the moon hitting the earth and it turns out that it isn’t our moon at all, but a much lesser moon from another planet. We are spared.
It morphed into a couple of other dreams scenes but I believe the messages are separate. Since the moon represents an archetype, I’m curious to see what others read into this. Any ideas?
So at first while you’re looking at the moon it is not a firey ball of death, but instead something amazing, perhaps beautiful?
But then it turns into your impending death, which once you accept you are spared from.
Perhaps the moon is an event or person in your life?
I think Kit makes a good point with ‘once you accept you are spared’.
I always feel that dream symbols are things only you yourself can judge the best. When you think of a moon, what does it mean to you? How do you feel about it? What did it feel like in your dream? Did it come across as being grand and terrifying, threatening, or majestic yet dangerous?
You say you marvel at the moon first, but then it threatens your life; but once you accept your fate, you are saved from the threat.
There may be a situation or person in your life you admire or care for, who can bring a great change to your life as well as ‘threaten’ your current feeling of safety. But trying to accept what’s going on may make things easier for you.
That seems to be the message, but I don’t do predicting, and I don’t know your psyche. Try to look at your own life situation and then the dream and see if you can make sense of the two; maybe the dream meant nothing at all! I believe that dreams are highly personal things and so are symbolisms in a dream; therefor books or other people will never be able to interpret it as well as you yourself can. :3
You both are spot-on with how I interpretted it. Thanks for your input Ashvura. I had a very deep and unexpected conversation with one of my life partners (a unit of 3, not poly with partners all over the place) last night in which he shared his anxieties of me eventually finding and wanting to be with somebody else. And while I had considered it, it instilled in me a new anxiety about being kept slightly apart from them because of it.
So the moon being the most brilliant thing I’ve ever seen represented the beauty and balance I see in our relationship. The fiery doom would be the possible end to that relationship. And usually when I have these conversations with him I get very emotional even though I don’t want to, it’s just painful for me to get that personal with anyone. However last night I felt at peace with all of the possibilities, I know I’ll be just fine no matter what. Love has always found me. I will be spared.
I’ve been reading a book on dream interpretation and it spoke of Jung’s “amplification” and “archetypes” and so I wondered if maybe I was off-base. So I guess if you pay attention to what happens in your life and make a little effort to associate it with dream symbols, it really is quite easy to analyze your own dreams eh?
