Wow, I was extremely close to a lucid dream last night!

This last night I believe I was closer to a vivid lucid dream than I’ve ever been before.
I had tried to remain focused on lucid dreaming yesterday evening, and was really motivating myself to try and become lucid that night.
I didn’t get any actual results during the night, but I did wake up earlier than normal (probably during a REM cycle as well, since my dream recall was quite good and I didn’t feel that tired), but I was too lazy to attempt a WBTB method - still, I thought this was a golden opportunity to try and stay aware while I fell asleep again, and that time several interesting things happened.
I dreamed that I woke up, and I tried to turn on my bed lamp, but it didn’t work, and for a fleeting moment I remembered that this was often an LD sign; then in the dream I went out of bed, and everything was so amazingly realistic that I really felt as if I was awake for real, the only difference was that everything had a slightly “watery” look and was probably a little darker than normal.

Anyway, now I woke up for real, and now the lamp worked!
It instantly came down to me that - I had experienced a realistic False Awakening!
Now I was obviously very excited and attempted to fall asleep again, and now in the dream the bedlamp had stopped working again!
Then I heard a voice that I will forever remember - I asked for advice on how to become lucid and the voice told me “you are already becoming lucid, you are already a creator”.
I went out of bed into the kitchen, and performed many Reality Checks - most of them had no real effect, but then I looked at my hand and although I had the right number of fingers, they seemed to have different lengths and looked just slightly thicker than normal - and then I woke up for real.
I don’t remember feeling excited in the dream itself, but I’m fairly sure I did start to feel excited and that this was the reason I woke up.

You were not close. You were there, just like the voice told you. Listen to your SC, it’s a very reliable source of the subconscious knowledge.

Hey congrats,
So what exactly u did after waking before R.E.M cycle? U just fell asleep or did WILD/MILD?

Thanks.
I used WILD, I just lay there and counted the clock-ticks from my kitchen clock in order to keep myself mentally aware, and suddenly I felt less connected to my body and when I got out of bed I experienced this FA thing.
It was actually quite mind-blowing, everything was almost 100% realistic in all possible ways except for the slightly dark watery look.

Oh thats great…Did u feel any sensations like buzzing sound, vibrations etc? While u kept counting did u see any hypnogogic images? And did u have any thoughts while u laid still? Can u say how many mins it took for u to experience false awakening (approx)?

Not really, but I did feel that I started to fall asleep more and more.

I don’t seem to get those, I just tend to suddenly be asleep and feel that everything has this characteristic “dream atmosphere”, but I usually don’t fully realize this until I wake up.

I focus on counting the clock-ticks, so that’s the thing that’s chiefly on my mind then.

I usually start to lose count at 500-600 and I don’t remember ever counting any higher.
This is actually a very interesting way to “track down” your lucidity - keep counting the seconds and try to pinpoint when you tend to lose count, and become extra aware the next time you reach that number!
