EDIT: someone else made a post about dream settings and I didn’t notice, tried to delete this post, but couldn’t because there was a reply. Sorry all! I would still love replies anyway!
forgive me, I’m very new, but I wanted to discuss places/settings that frequently occur. I like to think of them as “how the inside of my head must look like”
I often dream completely inside of a building. this building is always half-built or decrepit looking. no paint on the walls, mismatched wooden panels. as I focus to look around, there is always piles of trash laying in corners and just generally dirty.
I also often dream that I’m on a dirt path lit by stadium lights, and I can hear the whirr of a generator. I liken this to my many trips to music festivals, as that is how the paths from the stage to the tents are often lit. In my dreams, however, the paths are isolated, with no stage or tents around. sometimes I’ll be walking somehwere completely unrelated and just end up on this stadium lit path.
two nights ago I had my first lucid dream in a long time. the landscape here was much different, bright colors but smeared like an oil painting. I’d like to end up here much more than the broken-down house. lol.
where do you end up most often in your dreams? what do you think these settings say about your mindset, or person as a whole?
My two most common dream settings are my community theatre, called The Playhouse, and cities in a forest. There’s a certain video game called Fable, and I’m often in towns there.
That usually depends on my lucid dream goal, which I suggest you have one. It’s easier to focus on what kind of dreamscapes you want to dream about.
I’ve noticed that my LD are usually in places that are familiar to me. House, school, friends or cousins place, and other places that I’ve seen and “experienced” before. Yet there are some LD that are in places that I’ve never seen before…
Maybe when I become more experienced in LD I’ll be more successful in changing dreamscape that is already given to me by default.
I haven’t really set any goals for my dreamscapes yet. I’m not sure where I want to go. It would be nice to start out on that path with the stadium lights and actually end up at a festival, though. why not have a grand party in my dreams? I guess it would be best to start out with a festival I’ve been to before, then eventually build my own Alice in Wonderland crazy extravaganza dream-fest.
thanks for the idea about setting a goal, now I’m kind of excited
One of mines is what I call “The big city.”
It’s a large city, with it’s tallest skyscraper in the middle. At the top of the skyscraper is a restaurant with all windows for walls. The building has “Wife” or “Wife’s” in it’s name, but whenever I try and look at the name of the building, I either miss it, or it’s blocked by another building! They serve a chicken lookalike called “Mayflower.”
Another one that I’ve noticed is an arcade where I always play DDR.
It appears to be in a movie theater.
ARCADES! where-ever i am or what ever type of dream it is, arcades almost always seem to find a way into my dreams and i always find tons and tons of quarters too!
Well… if I happen to fall asleep at work, there’s a lot of dreams with settings in my workplace.
Also, while at work, there’s this building/sometimes warehouse (really, multiple uses, but it has the same layout outside) that I end up at a lot. I’m usually outside though. Maybe I should draw it.
A common dreamscape for me is the center of my town where there is a church, honey farms, and a grassy park I recently dreamed of running from gods wrath through the park maybe because a church was nearby
