Am I scared?

All day, I’m ethusiastic about the idea of having a LD,
But as I get closer and closer to the bed time I asigned for myself,
I get some second thoughts.

Don’t get me wrong, I REALLY want this.
But I guess that deeply in me SC, I slightly afraid. (Maybe it’s because I dont know what to expect.)

:help: ?

Moved from General Lucidness. :dragon:

I think there’s nothing to be afraid about LDing-wise. The worst thing that can happen is that you wake up in sweat because something scares you in the dream. Forget about all the misconceptions about LDing. It is nothing scary.

Maybe it will help you to realize that the big advantage of lucid dreaming is that you can CONTROL the dream. So when something happens that you don’t like, you change the scenery, or wake up (there’s ways to do this, stare at your hands for instance). Maybe when you tell yourself this before you go to sleep you will feel more confident.

Take a week or two without thinking about LDs if you find yourself doing it too much: Some people get their first LD after they stop trying.

i started up on LDing again, when i stopped getting into it, and one night i realized, i was brushing my teeth, even when i just did it like 10 minuets ago, and i realized (you all know the phrase) “im dreaming!”
but ya, its nothing to be afraid of.
unless you find yourself falling off a 10 story building, but hey thats (probably) not gonna happen

I dont think there is much to be afraid of. After all, youre safe in your warm cozy bed, completely relaxed, and about to have one of the most wonderful experiences of your life. And tell your SC that everytime youre even a bit scared

Dont be scared.

Even though I haven’t had my first WILD/LD yet. I am still scared, but its the scared feeling that you get when you know that you have to do it.

Trust me, just one day. try to do a WILD and keep telling yourself while you attempting the WILD that “Nothing can harm me, its all in my head.” or what ever you prefer to calm youself down, because in reality… nothing can really harm you… unless you have a cat or dog and they jump on you lol… (my cat jumped on me once and licked my face)

Also, I find that when I think about LDs and doing WILD and stuff I get scared, but when I actually lie down and do it I become really calm and not scared

Thank you everybody,
I had my first LD last night!
And guess what,
I just cant wait to have my second. :content:

I guess the best way to cope with it, is to experience it.

hah! Congratulations, Leeh!

you said it right, and now that you’ve had one you kinda know how it feels like so it will be easier to get lucid again!

Congrats Leeh on your LD! The first one always is so exciting. There never really is anything to be scared of when you get a LD cause YOU’RE in control of everything, unless you want to scare yourself maybe, but I don’t think that’s ganna happen. :scared:
