Close, but not quite!

I’ve been lazy with my dream journaling lately, but I’m trying to get back into the habit to build my recall back up. In one dream last night, I thought, “I need to write this down later so my dream recall improves.”

I wasn’t lucid. Journaling daily activities to improve dream recall seemed perfectly rational to my dreaming brain, so I didn’t question it. :person_facepalming:

I had a (non-lucid) dream a couple months ago where I was playing a video game, but the game suddenly got weird. I didn’t want to play it anymore, so I decided to wake up. No realization I was dreaming, just “I’m going to wake up now” (followed by a false awakening I didn’t catch).

Anyone else have stories to share of dreams where they kind of unconsciously knew they were dreaming yet it didn’t click?

I had that happen just a few days ago actually! Straight quote from the DJ:

I’m watching an animation of a roller coaster. It’s going uphill, hits a peak, but when it should start moving downhill it suddenly looks as if the coaster is instead moving uphill again, but backwards. Is it some kind of optical illusion?

I look again more closely, and now I’m in the roller coaster as it’s going up the hill and approaching a U-shaped dip. It goes downhill and we barely collide with a small mine cart in front of us. The collision is very gentle since we’re hardly moving. We get stuck at the bottom of the dip. I’m a little worried, but we’re at ground level and the seats open, and I see an emergency exit opening. Everyone gets out.

The dream is obviously over and I want to wake up, so I close my eyes, let myself fall, and do it.

It was not a lucid dream at all, but the “withdraw participation to wake up” technique is straight from a book on lucid dreaming. No false awakening though, it just worked.

(this is before i knew what lucid dreaming was) I once had a regular dream that i was just in a classroom, then suddenly i felt all… weird as if somethin was off, so i asked my friend if it was a dream and he said yes, but he was chill, then i walked into the next room with him. I was aware. Then i teleported to some random place and i was like: wait wut? but then i realised this place looked pretty cool actualy cuz it was a cliff, but then i slipped off the cliff and i flew but then it glitched and broke a bit and this continied like a LOT of times and i was aware, and i was getting more and more anxious. Then i woke up.

Gee i heard about inception the day before and i thought it was about a guy trapped in a dream in dream but it wasent.
