Well, I’m guessing everyone knows what cramps are. I get a lot of cramps a week and they are really annoying. I was wandering if anyone gets a lot of cramps and if anyone gets that and knows why i get so many of them.
I got 1 on sunday, 2 on monday, and 1 today. First on my thigh, them on three times on my foot. Sometimes i even get them in my jaw, when i yawn too openly. ( It hurts like hell. I asked a friend of mine, and he said i need a tetanus injection. I took the injection 1 year ago)
I consider myself to be fit, and i play sports all the time. Does this mean I’m unhealthy?
It might have a lot of causes. I’d recommend you to spare a half hour in the morning to stretch, and then that you also stretched before and after doing sports. That alone shall help a lot. Also, stress might be causing muscular tension, which in turn causes the cramps; so if you’re under stress, there you go: start some hardcore relaxation routine now and thank me when you live two whole years more because of that.
Last but not least, try to take easier on yourself with sports until they’re gone. Don’t overdo it. If they don’t wear off, find a doctor. It’s usually something trivial, but doctors know way more about this kind of thing than forum commonsense will ever teach you, so they might think of something no–one here would.
when you have tetanus you get cramps but you cant move then at all and it is too late then… you get cramps from your muscles beeing tired and not having enough oxigen, when you get a cramp you can get rid of it by pinching yourself or even picking yourself with a needle in that area… strech, dont smoke and dont stress your muscles too much!!! also keep them warm, they are most common after swiming alot in cold water…
if you are worried though go to the doctor…
This used to be a pretty big problem for me as well. I’d wake up in the middle of the night with such a bad cramp that I’d literally have to jump out of bed and apply as much pressure as I could to my foot or leg to bend it back into shape. Then my calf would be amazingly sore for the entire day, just because the muscle was so tense for those ten or so seconds.
Anyway, my dad explained that it could be due to a lack of sodium chloride (salt). When he was in the military, they used to be given salt pills to defend against cramps. I don’t know the specific reason for why it works (perhaps it allows oxygen to more effectively reach your muscles, as chip9munk explained), but people seem to believe that it does. Maybe you could try adding a little extra salt to your diet.
they give you salt in the army because you lose a lot of it with swet. the lack of minerals like K (i dont know how you cqall it in english we call it KALIJ, it is K in elemental sistem) (you have K in bananas) can cause cramps… it is because of some cemical reactions, linking oxigen on minerals…blah…blah… anyway how to treat them depends on why you have them…
i hope we all helped you…
