Do you control your dreams while not lucid?

Every so often I’ve been able to do this, ever since I was little. I would have the start of a nightmare but remind myself it’s only a dream, and change it. Or I would be engrossed in a good dream and start contiously writing the story and ‘directing’ it on the fly. Unfortunately, this has never really
gotten me lucid since I completely forget about trying, but I just wondered if anyone else here does this? Is it unusual? Cheers.

Yes!! I love it when it happens to me!

And in my case, whenever I have this sort of dreams, they come in parts, so it really feels like I am living my own TV series, or taking part of a multi-part movie.

Some of them actually feel like video games too! To the point where I see the map at the corner, I get to switch between tools and when I talk to people I even have “dialog options”. I have these dreams marked in my journal as PAULA PLEASE DO AN RC, because I think it’d be really easy to become lucid from this point!

Ooh, mine aren’t as in-depth and fun sounding as yours but it’s nice to know I’m not the only one who enjoys them. I agree that it would be great if we could get lucid from them since we’d already be in an interesting scenario. Oh well, silly SC…

I sometimes have dreams where I can just make things to go my way without being lucid. Depending on the situation I assume a role that allows me to do what I want. False lucid dreams belong to this category too and those are usually pretty exciting.

Like paual, I often have a map in my dreams too. It changes to fit my needs but often it’s like a 3d map of the surroundings and I can roam around in the map while my dream body is still. It can sometimes be used for teleportation too.

To give an example what sort of abilities I have in my normal dreams, a few days ago I changed how gravity affected me in the dream so I got past a crowded area. I “fell” horizontally over the crowd.

A lot of times I become briefly lucid as I change an element in a dream, especially in anxious situations.

But, yes, I do control elements “magically” sometimes without being lucid. A few of these have borrowed themes or aspects from popular fantasy/sci-fi movies. For instance, I’ve had several dreams of being able to do Harry Potter-style magic and therefore control my environment in ways I don’t normally do in dreams (and certainly not while awake).

An interesting recurring control theme I’ve noticed is my ability to get through impossibly tiny spaces. That is, if I’m being chased and come to a wall with a small hole in it, I can make myself fit through it despite mass and physics.

Yes and it happens often.
Sometimes it happens not suspecting the environment to be a dream. (The ??? dreams) Even when I have abilities. To me it is a bit unusual because I hardly hear of others doing it, and when I would attempt to explain it to find out what type of dream it falls under I’d get mixed answers. What else seems a bit unusual is how I sometimes fail to connect the dots in some scenarios when I’m trying to LD.

Had another one of those type of dreams last night. I had two different people leading me through, and at the back of my mind I knew what was happening, but was happy to just go with the flow. These dreams need a name though!:stuck_out_tongue:
