I am posting my goals I wish to reach in my dreams on here. If this is the wrong section, please move it into the correct section. I just finished chapter 2 in Stephen LaBerges’ book Exploring the World of Lucid Dreaming. In it, it has an excercise that says you should set short-term and long-term goals you wish to achieve. For my short-term goals, I want to remember at least one dream everynight. For my long-term goals, I want to have my first lucid dream no later than in three months. I will add to my goals as I read more of this book. It is definetly a very informative book, and I love it so far!!! I can’t wait to read more of it tonight!!
I usually set a weekly goal. That is usually 2 LDs, and I increase if I have them before the time is up. I experimented with setting not the goal of a certain amount of LDs, but decided that going through a mirror was more important. And then I forgot the goal of 2LDs. I suffered a dry period. Then I remembered my usual goal. And the situation turned right away. Goalsetting can have a big impact…
Well I already achieved my long-term goal last night! I had a LD, it was so amazing!! My new long-term goal is to be able to have LD’s at least once every week-2 weeks.
sounds like that books really inspiring I ordered it yet it STILL hasn’t come and since i finished my last book i’ve not been sleeping as well as i did.
Note to self:the importance of books at bed time
Related to my long-term goals of having a LD every week-2 weeks, I have some things I want to do when I have my next LD. I will cross them off the list when I do these things for the first time in my LD.
Things to do in LD:
Have Dream Sex
Fly
Make whatever DC’s I want to appear
The time pressure of the weekly goal makes for subconscious motivation. But the thing about it is. Once you get used to having a number of LDs every week. IF you have a bad week, it feels like it was forever since you had a LD. Kind of demoralising.
My goal is to increase awareness, the strength and will of attention. I meditate daily, and I want to get to the point where I can meditate in the Dream World as easily as the Physical World.
Short term, I just want to have more LDs and more attention in them.
I think that with goal setting one of the most important things is too look at your goal several times a day, which helps to increase motivation and focus. Short term and long term goals are important, but they also have to be achievable. My goals look something like this:
Memory - Record (minimum) one dream every night
Induction - Perform MILD technique after each REM period
Letter to subconscious every night
Incubation - Travel to Marcuria Market (watch clips before bed)
Moon Quest - Find your symbol
I have weekly goals and monthly goals, and at the end of every week (and month) I review my success, and find ways that might help to achieve my goals. Incredible how much focus this give you.
