Dream invasion by shared dreamers!?!?!?

moved to Beyond Dreaming forum :content:

Last night I had probably the strangest LD to date.

I dunno how shared dreaming works but this was creepy.

I was just building a small fishing village in my “construction space” or “white void” when suddenly two people appeared on the docks of my village.
I didn’t remember placing DC’s there so I floated over to them and asked. “Who… are you?”
One was a male and one was a female, and the male responded with “We’re having a shared dream. What dream character are you?”
I know I was lucid, and I definately knew that I did NOT make these two DCs. C’mon these two peeps were in clothes that they wouldn’t have until 500 years later, considering the time frame that this fishing village was supposed to be from.
Confused, and puzzled, I could only reply with: “Dream character!? YOU’RE the dream characters!”
The guy replied with a simple “Whatever” before looking around himself, then he spoke again, “Why is this place half----built?”
“This is MY dream, dude,” I told the guy, but he just shrugged before he and the girl began walking off on their own looking at what I had already built.
Feeling very confused, but now slightly angry, I yelled “I’ll turn you both into grass hedges if you don’t LEAVE!!!”
They looked at me for a moment then turned away and continued to explore my half-built village. So I did what I thought would be best to do in this situation.
I had a fish market fall on the guy, and I threw the girl into the lake before having it freeze.

And so, I DON’T know if this was a real shared dream invasion thingymajiggy, but it was quirky as heck and very very weird.

Can somebody help explain this to me? Because I’ve never experienced a dream with this kind of situation.

what gives you the idea it could be a shared dream? IMO they sound just like 2 normal DCs
DCs are weird

Yeah, they sound like DC’s to me too. If they were real people, having a lucid, shared dream, no way would you have been able to throw that girl in the lake.

Whatever you say, you have enough big respect at me to belive you; and thing about shared dreamers?

Well, basically this isnt too propable. Altrough having a one-week LD also isnt. If everyone was “at” your dream ( i meant that you was owner of dream, eveyone else was in your dream), you could do it. How many times even in LD’s dream chars have been using their powers? not once.

AND If you are sure that you didnt created them, then…

@dunlar

They were ignorant, acting really stupid.
coughlikemecough
But if DC in my dream would say that he’s not just a dream char, i’d act same way - just ignore it, and still ask.

or im wrong and they were weird DCs. Anyway, i wont make a bet.

I can’t explain it, but maybe next time you should try talking to 'em more instead of squishing them under fish markets… You know, play nice in the sandbox…

I disagree… Cubie here sounds like quite a dreamer, and I know I’ve had my butt kicked before in lucid dreams. :truit: A simple thing like a dog bite is enough to awaken me… …Let alone a fish market…

Or maybe it was just dream characters messing with your head…

your reaction was overtly hostile to a neutral if slightly arrogant presence.

you’re lucid, walking around, you find a fishing village and then the inhabitants throw you into a lake, don’t you think that it might be at best annoying, at worst stressful enough to wake you up and therefore cause you to lose your lucidity?

i myself am guilty of similar actions of hostilities to DCs real or oterwise, but your behavior is a reflection of your internal attitudes, in this case territorial attitudes… we should conduct ourselves in lucid dreams in the same way we would in fantasies, thoughts, day dreams, and waking actions.

LDs are a great environment to reprogram your behaviors towards human beings, because likely most DCs are not real, rather are simple mirror reflections of yourself, so to treat them in your worst possible ways of behavior is to nurture bad habits.

i might suggest (and i think this is very interesting!) that asking them to help you build your fisher world would have been a better idea.

think of it like this. you took up a blank canvas on the astral plane. you aligned your consciousness to a fixed point in “space-time” which was oriented to fishing and all the archetypes fishing evokes in the collective mind. therefore, those people who stumbled into your lucid construction were also of similar mindsets to you, because they themselves for whatever reason were pulled by the gravity of the same themes.

it’s sort of like going to a sci-fi convention. if you love sci-fi and you go there, you shouldn’t get into fights with the members because they are all evoking the same thoughtforms in their realities.

these people could have been regulars or friends to help aide you in creating a place in the astral, whether or not this place was objectively real, or these dreamers were objectively real, i do not know.

but people who claim to be lucid would make better dream friends than regular DCs, don’t you think?

I ran into someone who I played jazz with and it was real neat.

Writerscube, thanks for sharing this experience. Its pretty interesting. You might be interested in the Testing the Realness of DCs experiment thread.

Personally my favourite type of dream is when something happens that I’ve never experienced before! :cool_laugh:

Also, it sounds like you are very good at stabilizing your LDs and you are able to return to the same dreamscape over and over. Both are great skills.

lol I’ll try to be more nice next time to strange DCs/whatever-they-could-be. I guess in the spur of the moment, I felt kind of irked by their presence which I didn’t plan to have in my dreamscape, and I became kind of defensive or “Territorial” I guess. -_-’

I like keeping my LDs going my way, rather than have the LD control ME. And with that mindset, I guess I didn’t enjoy seeing those two unwelcomed DCs walking in on my half-built dream.

i dont think that it was anyone else that had invaded your dream,it was probably a DC

I believe they were DCs too…
Hey, who knows?! Maybe there are no DCs at all and all the people we see in dreams are real, and we’re all in a huge shared dream!

Wow there is something to think about

May be make friends with them :hugs:

Hmm now that’s an interesting idea…Meeting a real person in a dream and becoming friends. Who knows, maybe you could go meet them (or vise versa) and make each other lucid. Could be a lot of fun!

Had you read about link dreams before you slept? Otherwise I would also be puzzled  … i wish i could drop a fish market on a guy…

Maybe during that day you read/saw something involving SD and your subconscious just decided to make those DC’s say that you were all having a SD.

If you see them again, ask them for their phone numbers, then you can be sure if they’re real or not.

How do you know? Have you ever had a shared LD and tried that?? Hmm?

oh good point Bright eyes rocks! I think they could have been real people, but most likely there probally DC’s

That’s interesting, because it qestion what SD exacly is. Does both dreamers in shared dream (or all three in that case ) are able to control dream and use dream powers ? Or olny one can do so ? Or maybe they can not use dream powers on theirselves ? :hmmm:

It all depends what SD is, how it happens etc. If that is astral-thingy, I cannot say, I’m not too good in it. If this is some kind of telepathy, it depends.

  1. One dreamer can “join” second dreamer dream, then dreamer number 2 could control dream and use his dream powers on dreamer 1 .
  2. If telepathy is both-sided then they have same power, but I cannot guess that they can use DP on theirselves.
    However, both cases are possible.

Why did I divorced dream powers on another dreamer from controlling dream ? While dreamer 1 used his control over dream to change weather or something like that, it would not cause any change of second dreamer’s feelings, state of mind, or even place. If he used those powers on dreamer 2, for exaple throw fireball at him, then it should cause some change of him in his dream. But dreamer is not a part of dream, dreamer is someone real, unlike DC’s. So he could resist, and that fireball would not cause any harm, any effect on him.

I know It’s wicked a bit, but I cannot explain it in another way.

I also know that It’s easier to create theorys that prove them  . Well, SD’s are not too common, so I can’t say. :uh:
