dream journal software vs pen & paper

hi everybody, :content:
i have a question:

does a dream journal that is writen with pen and paper work better then DJ’s written on a pc, smartphone etc.?
i have this question because on many websites i read that your DJ should be something special for you, and you have to use a pen only for that, wich you can’t do on a pc

p.s. i’m beginning “lucid dreams in 30 days” any experiences with this book?

Pssh. Your dream journal has to be special to you. I have used a pen and paper, computer and mobile to take down my dreams. It really is up to you. Some people say pen and paper works better because the physical act of writing it down makes you remember it. For me, the ‘physical act of writing it down’ is in any form of it getting out of my brain. So it really is up to you. Sometimes I get lazy and like to type it up. The pen and paper is something people use when they wake between dreams (so there’s no bright light waking them up and they can’t sleep again). It’s handy to use both even, and some people do. Some people do a pen and paper and also write it on computer. Or write it on the computer then copy it down with pen and paper. It is really up to you and what you think will work better. You will probably find you switch between both.

thanks for the answer
very usefull

yeah 10 posts  my first star

Yup I totally agree with Eilatan.

I’ve read this book but rather because I want to read some book about LD’ing than actually expecting to discover “the” lucid dreaming program.

I like it though. It explains stuff pretty well and gives you a kind of timetable for every single day. But of course you’re free to skip some exercises, you don’t have to follow the instructions one-to-one since everybody is different, you may have to adapt the exercises so that they’re fitting you (just like with every technique).

Also take it to heart what the authors wrote on one of the first pages, you don’t have to do this in 30 days, it may take longer, take your time. :content:

I have a cool looking notebook that I use to write down my dreams when I wake up. I used to write long stories. These days I just jot down notes.

I write the long and detailed version on my computer later during the day. In the beginning I used my voice recorder on my phone in the middle of the night. It doesn’t really matter, as long as the DJ is special to YOU.

I really really like my well-organized, clean looking, and intricately formatted DJ in Word. I make a new document for each month and I have special styles and formats for lucid dreams and post-dream comments. And my dream recall is usually excellent. I remember anywhere from 2-7 dreams a night on average (when I’m in the habit at least). Some of those are very long, vivid and detailed.

Short answer: use whatever floats your boat.
