Dreaming in Opaque Colors

Is it normal to dream in opaque colors?

I dream in really opaque colors, not much color at all probably almost black and white. I’ve never LD’d.

Will I ever be able to dream in full bright colors?

you haven’t any real control over normal dreams

but when you have LDs you should be able to make them more colourful by using commands

Um, what exactly do you mean by “opaque”? When something is opaque, that just means it’s not transparent or translucent - light doesn’t shine through it. So unless you dream of rainbows or shimmery ghost-like things, it’s totally normal to dream in “opaque” colours, because that’s what most solid things are!

I think you’ve gotten your words mixed up - can you explain what you were trying to say in a different way?

If i were you, i’d try to have a lucid dream. It would help on rehab dream thing, and it would return not-opaque colors to dreams. But it might just go away by itself after some time.

When I say opaque I mean, not bright colors. Mostly shades, not colorful at all, it seems like it’s night all the time. I see silhouettes a lot.

Have you seen the movie Sin City? The one that is like a comic book story? Something like that but without the colors RGB, it’s not black/white either. There is some color but I have never seen a sunshine, or something as colorful as this website. It’s mostly shades, dark places, seems like nighttime even though the dream is not happening at night… it’s hard to describe, but did you get what I’m trying to say?

If not let me know and I’ll try one more time.

Peace.

I get what you mean, from what I hear most people dream in black and white, so don’t worry, you’re not having some wierd problem.

And as for wanting to dream in color, I suggest having a LD, you’ll be able to make things much more colorfull :good:

as far as I know although people do have the occasional dream in black and white … dreaming in colour is more common. The brightness of the colours prob do vary from person to person though.

Wow p, I’ve heard of the monochrome dreams before :uh:
Well, my suggestion is no different from everyone else’s here  Just try to LD…
If you want NDs in color, though :hmmm: During WL just think as vividly in color as you can–all throughout the day  And really pay attention to the details of WL–I mean reeeeeeally pay attention to the colors and details and everything
A lot of mental and visual stimulation, but it’s fun and well worth it :ok:

If that fails, you can’t beat going with M&Ms…Color your world!

:yay:

What does opaque colours mean?? But anyways nearly all of my dreams seem to have vivid colours. In some high level lucid dreams i seem to have sharper vision and more intense colours than even in waking life.
I honestly dont recall ever having a black and white dream other than during the very first few seconds of a wild or ending of a lucid dream. The first thing that happens when i am about to wake up from the LD, is that colours get kinda pale like a faded photograph and then the vision get kinda transparent which get worse until my vision fades away completely.

Which reminds me

I’ve had monochrome dreams before, p–not truly since I was like 5 or 6, but I can tell you of recent ones.

It was one where a group of kids from my school were looking at a photograph with one of my friends walking away in it (motion and everything, like the moving photos in Harry Potter), and the photo was in monochromatic tone. This was an ND, BTW…so I entered the photo and was immersed in this almost monochromatic forest-park at sunset…it had this very subtle sepia tinge to it, but it was one of the most awesome scenes I’ve ever seen  and all in shades…no color. In fact, there are times I’d rather dream in monochrome…just sometimes

I have only ever dreamt it full colour. i feel left out lol!

well all my dreams have been in colour too … except for a short flash of monochome in about two dreams

I almost always dream in full colour, but often my dreams are “tinted” slightly with a certain colour as well. I can only think of one occasion in which I dreamed in black and white, and that was of a black and white movie!

“Opaque”, in the sense you meant it in your original post, is not common, as far as I’m aware. I’m pretty sure the vast majority of people actually dream in full colour, and not B&W as Gyth said. (But you weren’t talking about B&W anyway, were you?) Unfortunately, I don’t know how you can change this.

I never knew people dreamt in black and white…

My understanding is that most people have the vast majority of their dreams in color because that is the experience they know from waking life, which our dreams tend to draw on.

A long time ago  when I was young, I heard that women dream in color, and men in B&W. When I remember a dream from years ago, I remember it in B&W. Even some of the dreams I have now, I remember them in B&W. It seems that the colors fade faster then everything else. Some are just kind of washed out color.
I also remember WL things is B&W. The older, or less vivid memorys tend to be in B&W. The newer memorys or memorys of very important times are in color.
It might have something to do with the fact that when I was young, B&W photos were common, and color photos were not. I even had to go through my eary childhood with a B&W TV.
Nowdays everything is in color, so it makes sense that dreams are also in color.
don

My dreams are normely in colors intil right before I wake up.
(Then I ofen becomes deaf or voiceless too)

I am of a similar age to you and all the child hood dreams I had were in colour. Though I have read somewhere that the advent of black and white TV produced more black and white dreams

Maybe you should try the color visualisation that’s been talked about here. You just visualise colors. I’ve done that now and again since I read about it and it does affect dreams. Maybe because I do it when I go to bed. Just go through the colors. Red-orange-yellow-green-blue-violet. I’ve tried to work in indigo too to get the entire rainbow but I find when i try, i never remember what it looks like.
