i always had lucid dreamed since i was a child (25 now) but i have just recently become aware of the possibilities of things that can be done utilizing it (astral proj, spirit guides, etc). i recently decided to try to start lucid dreaming again to explore and had no problem reaching that state. the problem is that i lost/forgot all the “powers” i use to have like the ability to fly, tochange the scene, make things appear, etc. Now all i can manage to do is to levetate for short periods (more like a state of very little gravity), but that is about the extent of my control.
does anyone have any suggestions as to how i can regain “control/abilities” in my lucid dreaming??? thank you…
You mentioned that only recently you’ve had these Lucid Dreams again. This tells me that you just need to regain your (or develop) confidence in your Lucid Dreams. This confidence, knowing that YOU are everything that makes up the dream, that your mind controls everything - is the only thing you need in order to fulfill anything within your Lucid Dream… well, that and a good level of Awareness (that you’re dreaming).
Some things that might help you:
When you enter your Lucid Dream, tell yourself “I Am Dreaming” and re-affirm your ability to control your dreams, with something like “I Control My Dream, I Have Full Control!”. It would help for you to shout these out loud… but if you can’t do that just say them in your mind.
Practice! You seem like you need to get more comfortable in your Lucid Dreams. Since you “had no problem” getting into Lucid Dreams, you’ll have plenty of chances to do so, and thus build your confidence (unlike some people, such as myself ).
Relax… when you get in the dream don’t try to calm yourself down so much… just “understand within yourself” that everything is fine and you 1). Won’t leave your dream immediately, 2). Are in control and can do what you like…
I have no doubt if you can boost your confidence you will be above and beyond within your Lucid Dreams… it’s just that… for some more than others, gaining Confidence in Lucid Dreaming is a difficult task - but don’t let that be you!
Hope this helps!
(btw i’m no expert this are just what the community here has tought me over time)
thanks NeoMarine… i think you are right with my needing to simply boost my confidence. while LDing i will try to make something happen and then wait to see if it does… i need to start doing things knowing that i am in control and can make them happen. it is not an issue of chance but a matter of will. thank you so very much…
i am certainly open for more advice on this from anyone…
Don’t think too much about how you should do these things technically. Like, how to fly. Don’t worry about, whether you should jump, or hold your arms out, or similar things. You can “just do it”, don’t worry about results. A sort of go with the flow attitude is good.
awesome!!! thanks for the advice everyone… i just woke up like 5 minutes ago from an outrageous lucid dream where i was in control no problem (flying, went through my first mirror, etc)… thanks!!!
