Hey all!
I have had a looong break from LD’s and just recently started to pick it back up again. Like before I’m still trying to have my first WILD. I wake up in the early morning, stay up for a while before going back to bed for a WILD attempt. But the problem is that I have a really hard time staying aware, even if I count numbers, breaths or just listen to the ringing in my ears. I just lose it somewhere and wake up a couple of hours later swearing.
Funny thing is that when I practiced WILD’s last year, I had problems with falling asleep and were instead keeping myself awake during my attempts.
So my question is if anyone conquered a simillar problem at some point? What did you do to stay aware during WILD’s?
Well, if you manage to fall asleep while trying, you could go with something more direct, like “I’m dreaming/lucid/aware/conscious”, “This is a dream”, or similar. If there’s the risk of getting bored/distracted, just let go while keeping your thoughts LD-related, it’s one good way to keep consciousness while you fall asleep
If you’re falling asleep you can always experiment with caffeine. That will improve your mental concentration and keep you from falling asleep. Before attempting WILD I take a cup of coffee made with 2 tablespoons of regular non-decaf instant. Works great. Coke, tea, and energy drinks have the same effect. Avoid caffeine tablets or capsules because they can actually be dangerous if you aren’t careful with the dosage (can cause you to crash).
Coke!! I can totally do that! Thanks Antiego, and thank you Todey for posting this question; I have the exact same problem. Perhaps with my new found secret caffeinated weapon I will have a WILD tomorrow morning.
tosxyChor and Antiego, how long does it take your body to fall asleep During a WILD? I tend to get jittery as soon as 20 minutes elapses.
Depends on the position for me. A good WILD transition time can range from 5- mins (comfortable position, WBTB) to 20+ mins (on my back, start of night). It’s always faster if you remember to relax your body thoroughly and let it go though
Tried again this morning but it failed and I got back to sleep. Still have to try energy drinks, coke etc. But I’m also finding that I don’t set my mind enough to WILD. It goes pretty much by routine. Maybe I also need to focus more on my intention to WILD?
And no problem Grayscale, guess we had the same problem at the same time? ^^ Good luck with your attempts and thank you for the answers.
