First LD - I felt lost and confused

After finding the site yesterday, I had my first lucid dream last night. I was impressed that it happened so soon, however it wasn’t really what I was expecting. About halfway through my dream I did a reality check and realized I was dreaming. At this point I got excited and tried to think of something to do in the dream, I decided to try to step through a window. When I tried to stick my finger through the window, it didn’t go through It felt like a normal window. At this point I felt realy lost and confused and lost lucidity. For the rest of the dream I felt like something was odd, but had no control.

Is it normal for things like this to happen to beginners? It was kind of liked I lacked confidence in my own lucidity. Any tips to better this other than practice?

Also some things I’ve noticed that may help others: Since I’ve started working out I’ve noticed a huge increase in dreams and being able to remember them when I wake up. I haven’t even been trying, seeing as I just found this site yesterday. I’m not sure whether it’s the physical exhaustion during the day or that I’ve gotten on a normal sleep schedule and wake up at the same time everyday, but something seems to have made this process much easier.

Thanks for the help!

I envy you highly, because you had your first LD so soon. I have only tried WILD, MILD, and WBTB three times, and have had no success. Im not sure if I was doing it wrong,But I do realize that it takes time, and will take as much time as it needs.

From my experience (none at all  just stay confident and calm, don’t doubt yourself in anyway. But I have not experienced it, so I have no clue.

Agh I hate that! I always lose lucidity! Maybe when the window thing happened something convinced you this was real life, and then you lost lucidity?

Nothing like that at all.
It was the confidence he lost. When he saw that his finger didn’t go through the window, he immediately lost confidence, and lucidity with it.That shouldn’t happen.

You need to be relaxed and confident, not tense. And DON’T wonder will your finger go through the window next time, IT WILL if you are confident. It’s your dream and you are the master!

When I get lucid I think of all the things I wanna do, cause I know lucid dreams usually don’t last that long unfortunately. But it is wrong to hurry and do everything at once. Instead go to a calm place where there are not so much distractions, calm down, look at your hands and try to see as much detail as possible, then look up hopefully the dream will be more clear, convince yourelf that this is really a dream. Scream, more lucidity! Find some cold water and let it freshen you, feel some texture. Put all your efforts into feeling the dream as much as possible but in the same time, and this is hard, stay calm!

  • this works for me at least and you might wanna try it next time if you want!
