First lucid!!!

So I was reading through these forums last night, looking at all the tips and ideas and stuff. Anyway, I went to bed thinking about how awesome it would be to have a LD. I went to sleep, and I remember dreaming that I was flying over the neighborhood tennis court. Suddenly, I realized that I was dreaming! (Yea!) I decided to land and check everything out. I tried spinning a few times and rubbing my hands together (techniques to prolong lucid dreams, right?). Then I decided to do some RCs, just to see what would happen. I’d read that a good RC is to close your eyes and when you open them, see if anything changes. I closed my eyes, and when I opened them, the dream was GONE. Everything was black, and I could feel myself losing the dream. AHH! So short! But so cool! Can’t wait to have another (longer) one.

Congrats!!!

You might want to stick with the hand RC if you blacked out before. It might not do that every time, but why risk it?

Congratulations on your LD!

Closing and opening my eyes is the way I use to wake myself up from a dream. It might be because the eyes are the only body parts that aren’t paralysed in rem sleep. Maybe it would work better to cover your eyes with your hands, and remove them again? Or, cover an object with your hand and see if it changes?

Good luck, and sweet dreams!

I did the same thing in that one VILD I had. Ruined the whole thing! :grrr:

All right, I think I’ll try a different RC. But still, the whole LD thing was just too cool. That pretty much made my day. :content: Plus, in that dream, I knew I was dreaming before doing a RC. Of course, the flying might have had something to do with it. But if I get into another LD, I’ll probably do a RC anyway, just to make sure.

about the eye thing, i was wondering (Sorry to ask a ?? in someone else’s post) but does anyone remember blinking in LD’s?

I tend to blink a lot. It’s a matter of control really, I figured out how to do it without getting stuck in the blackness.

You remember blinking? Huh. Wow.

Completely unrelated, but has anyone who uses glasses/contacts had a dream where they didn’t have them? So everything was blurry? It’s happened to me before, and it was really disorienting. Fortunately, I had them in my one and only lucid.

Lol, there are some weird smiley-things on here. Like this poor little guy: :mirror: Who designs this stuff?!?

Have you researched about the penis being another muscle that doesn’t get paralyzed? im not sure about it though. :eh:
Im not kidding…Wet dreams is an example of that i guess.

:boogie:   :cheer:  :woot: :hyper: :ok:  :ok: :good: :mrgreen_hat: :mrgreen_hat: :cool_laugh: :clown: :spinning:

CONGRADULATIONS!

lol sorry got in the moment…

Yes closing your eyes, is the thing that you shouldn’t do. Right next to having sex on your first couple of LDs. Both will wake you up faster than you got into it. Closing your eyes can trigger your mind into thinking your waking up, when you open your eyes again. Takes practice to allow that to not happen. Actually, some cases people don’t wake up from closing eyes. Anyways…a grand RC that never fails, in the history of ever, is the Nose Plug RC. Plug your nose and see if you can breathe, thats all. No risk factor, and all fun and enjoying. It’s really weird to try and cut off your air supply, but you can still breathe. Hehe try breathing underwater. That will confuse your brain. Anyways…congradulations!

Only gets easier from here. Good job at passing the beginners barrier!!!

Lol, thanks for the advice. And the crowd of smilies.
