Ghosts?

I’ve had many experiences that could be ghostly, but growing up with a mother who sees and communicates with them, that’s probably not surprising.

I’ve heard voices before, once when I was about 6/8yrs old I was laying in my bed, it would have been 11pm or there about. From the foot of my bed I heard a male voice say my name, the voice was unfamiliar (and any family members would have been in bed also) and what I found stranger is that it was my birth name that was called not my common name.

In 2nd year at Junoir School (so age 8/9) when ever I was alone in the class room a banging noise could be heard from the store room. There was never any one in there and the only way in or out would been through the classroom. In the storeroom was an old blue cupboard and the banging would come from this. - That particular class room was part of the original boarding school and would have been a bedroom so the storeroom would likely have been the clothes room.

During one lunch time me and a friend was in catching up on work and the banging started. He said that it does that when he was in the room alone too, a couple of minutes later we both saw a blueish flash of light pass in front of the blackboard. My “friend” ran out of the room leaving me alone.

  • When I was 15 I was awoken at around 6am and heard a male voice right next to me say “shh you’ll wake him” - the only other male that lived in the house was my father and he would have been at work for another hour.

  • Around the same time my mother asked me what I had been watching at 5am because she had heard lots of female voices in my room when she went to the bathroom. I was asleep at the time and the TV had not been left on.

So do I believe in the spirit world? Yes. I do have more reasons than those posted, but I like to keep some things to myself.

As far as “evil spirits” thanks to the Ouija board go, personally I think it is a load of tripe. The Ouija board works no differently to any other form of mediumship, the spirit communicates through YOU. You subconsciously move the placard, just as you subconsciously use move the pendulum or it’s your hand writing through automatic writing. This is one of the reasons such methods are targets for sceptics. There’s no real way to say it wasn’t you moving it.

I’m not exactly sure what you mean by that. Ghosts/Spirit exist around us in what people call the astral plane, but they can visit us/people they loved/places they lived. Sometimes we hear them or see something we can’t explain. Sometimes there is a smell like freshly baked bread in the kitchen, or cigarette smoke, other times it is just a feeling of a presence or emotion. Most times we just don’t notice at all. Whether you would consider them to be annoying I couldn’t say.

When i was younger i was deeply afraid of the dark, and when i slept at night i kept the tv on for some illumination.

I now don’t have the fear of sleeping in the dark so i usually sleep without anything since i was 11.

I had nightmares about monsters getting me when I was around 5 years old, so i guess that had something to to about it.

Mohegan, so those stories where the placard moves alone are just lies, then? Right, I didn’t know that.
And sorry, about the ‘annoying’ spirits thing, I meant…spirits trying to really scare you, on purpose, just for the sake of it, without you having done anything like a Séance or anything? And does any kind of protection exist?

Thanks!

I won’t say it’s entirely impossible or that every occurrence is a lie, I just don’t think it’s that common.

From a general Ouija experience a spirit wouldn’t have enough energy to interact with objects on the level of moving a placard to a specific spot repeatedly.

Spirits can exist in our plane at will, there really is nothing we can do other than ask it to not intentionally scare us. They have every right to be here as we do and we have no power over them as they don’t over us.

Some people believe than having a priest (or similar) perform a house exorcism will banish a spirit, I personally don’t believe this, if the spirit is just lost/doesn’t realise they have passed on then helping them into the light would solve the problem. But if they are there by choice an exorcism, in my view, may just anger them if they respond to it at all.

If you’re having an issue with a mischievous spirit or something along those lines, your first step should be to try politely asking them to stop a specific act and see what happens. I may have something in one of my books about cleansing yourself/house through meditation and visualisation, I just don’t have access to it at this time.

Yip, I’ve had my encounters. I mainly see shadows and Once I see them my back and stomach just drop. It’s like I can’t even walk.

I wouldn’t say the ghost are always just like the movies.

There different, it doesn’t sound real but when you experience it you just stop thinking and run.

I dunno know but theres something out there

I believe in ghosts.I have had multiple encounters with ghost. One was odd and i think it was just me and my friend’s imagination. But one of them i have seen multiple times.here is the story.

Me and my friends were in his basment. His two cats had recently died.We were just about to sit down at the computer and we hear a meow.We looked around by the windows to see if somthing was out sid when we see a transparent black and white cat shaped thing. It wasnt complete but we ecognized it as his dead cat fluffy. We recently went ghost hunting there. We think we found some stuff.

moved into correct forum and merged into existing topic :moogle:

Anyone ever had an experience with ghosts and are willing to share them? I’ll share mine later on in the topic, as right now, i’m kinda tired and have to wake up at 6:30 in the morning…

Anyway, I have experienced quite a few different things. What about you?

EDIT: Thanks Moogle… I forgot I made this topic!

 @ HewbrewB

I have no encounters of ghosts, but however I do know of a show about a team that investigates ghosts on the Travel Channel. It is called Most Haunted and theres another one on the SciFi channel (I haven’t seen it in a while) and they are called TAPS the name of the show is I think Ghost Hunters.

I wouldn’t put much faith into Most Haunted.

TAPS are cool, they are after facts not proof, so they are more trustworthy…

Most Haunted on the other hand I wouldn’t trust even if I was there with them. Derek was exposed as a fake too, or at least faked some of the things.

TAPS are awsome, I watch they’re live show every year.

Anyways I kinda belive in ghosts, kinda don’t, it’s kinda hard to describe but I think people can really be attached to objects and some of their presence rubs off. That could be why I collect antiques, am a packrat and save everything.

I don’t believe in ghosts. I learned that it’s magnetic fields that cause the person to hallucinate, and “feel” a ghostly presence

I know what you mean, I love antiques. I can feel a strong presance from them, and I think that is just as strong as seeing a ghost.

The other day I had an OBE, and I heard a voice of someone, and then I was like:“show yourself” and a she-ghost appeared in front of me! :woo: (i was lying in bed) I held her hand for like 10 seconds, and then i got kicked back into my body…it was a beautiful experience, and I’m looking forward to seeing her again :content:

Ghosts haunt me all the time, like theres a group of them and they know I’m scared so they get a kick out of scarring me.

Its like
I go to toilet at night
Ghost: ‘hey guys, yo watch dis`’
BAM my closed door opens in my face when I walked to it
Ghosts: LMAOS das DSO FUNNAYE! AGIN! agin!@1 dou eet agein!

Or the more common creaky, walking and water dripping sounds outside my room. One day I got annoyed and I went outside and said
‘F*** off!!!’

Then I think they stopped.

i know ghosts are real
in one of the pubs i lived in there was a ghost called rosie who lived in the hotel room.
and one of the people who stayed there was woken up by a wardrobe falling out the window

also my mum communed with one on the stairs

like 7 years before i was born my mom’s dad died of cancer and my mom and dad had left the hospital to eat and go home and 15 minutes after they left he died.
well that night, in the middle of the night, my mom said she woke up and was drawn to look in the doorway and her dad was standing there in his fishing gear watching her as if to say he was going to a better place.
but the strangest thing was that she called my grandmother and a cousin (i think it was her cousin) and all three of them saw the exact same thing within like 5 minutes

My grandpa was an alcoholic. So is my uncle. My uncle was recently hit by a driver while on foot at over 50 miles per hour. The driver ran and got away with it.

My uncle is in the worst condition imagineable. He is pretty much as close to dead as an alive person can be.

My mother (my uncle’s brother) slept in my uncle’s bed. She was awakened by someone tapping on her shoulder.

We know good and well, that once my uncle passes on, my grandpa (my uncles father) will be waiting for him on the other side with the biggest beer mankind has ever imagined.

My family has experienced so many things beyond this world it’s unbelievable.

An afterlife exists. I can’t put it any more specifically, but it is there.

[mod]Double post merged[/mod]

Do not fear death. An afterlife DOES exist. It does. It has been experienced by many who have died and have been brought back. And other than that, it has been experienced by the millions who have been visited by the dead.

[mod]Please remember, this topic is to discuss ghost/spirit not a debate about whether they exist. Nor should it be about whether the afterlife exists. While granted an afterlife and spirit go hand in hand, lets not take it off topic. :moh:[/mod]

My maternal grandfather came to me in the middle of the night about a year after he died, when I was 12. It was not scary at all, it was nice. He talked to me for a few minutes and told me that I absolutely must remember this one part of his message, which I did, but which had no relevance for me at the time, mostly because I was 12. The message turned out to be something crucial to me at a turning point in my life at age 27. Looking back on it now, I believe that he came to me with the message so many years before I would need it precisely because I was going to get terribly lost and confused in the ensuing years, which would have made it impossible for me to hear or perceive him when I really needed it. He kinda saved my life - in advance. It was cool.

I have always maintained that I was awake when this occurred. I was sitting up in bed with my eyes open, and he stood at the foot of the bed. His image was not as solid as a living person - it looked more like a hologram. And when he left, his image just sort of dissipated. He was able to tell me that he would not be able to come back again, so it is one of my most cherished memories.

The message was along the lines of hanging in there when things get tough, that I would face a time in my life that I wouldn’t think I could survive, but that I should hold on because it is always darkest just before the dawn. And indeed it is
