Going WILD

Hello!

I’m new to this forum, and wanted to tell about my first real WIL(D) experience. I’m really concentrating on the DILD method, but since I’m in the early stages of writing my dream journal, it is kind of pointless at this moment. Because of that, I arbitrarily try out the WILD method when it feels right, and at this moment everything was right!

I say WIL(D), because I didn’t break through. I laid down in a comfy position, and started relaxing my body. I work in a factory this summer, and my feet were aching. That feeling soon spread to the whole body, and turned into some sort of vibration. At this point, I felt the universe shrink around me. Some sort of blue, geometric pattern unfolded in front of me, and I observed. I got the feeling of the universe expanding again, but this time in an inner body dimension.

At this time, a 3D pattern of visuals started evolving. It had multiple layers, like in the cinemas. At this point my body was really vibrating; it felt like it was going in hyper speed towards something, almost like when you are pushed back in an accelerating car. The vibrating was so intense it felt like an orgasm all over, dare I say it! Blinking stars was appearing, and I knew this is common when doing WILD. At the same time, I felt my body lifting. Kind of like having no gravity. I have read that the rest of the trip into dream land can get quite bumpy, so I stopped myself from going any further.

I haven’t read that much on the WILD technique, so I could have reacted with fear on just about anything coming my way. I didn’t feel comfortable really, and maybe not quite ready. I kinda regret this now, but I’m not gonna dwell on that. It was quite an experience, and I felt relived and utterly happy afterwards. It felt like my SC stated to me that, “yeah, we are gonna do this!”

I’m gonna keep on trying, and hopefully I will have some more to share next time

Hello there Minuteman!

You know me and you are in the same boat, I just started my dream journal and I’ve been attempting WILD just to attempt it whenever I feel I have to confidence and concentration to pull it off. I have a feeling you were not too far from becoming lucid, let me just share an example of what happened to me:

I was laying in my bed doing my count to stay concentrated as well as watching whatever appeared in my head. Slowly everything got quiet and then sounds started coming from all directions. I ignored to sounds and kept counting, but then the weirdest thing happened, It felt as if someone got on my bed with me but at this point I was way too concentrated and kept going and the last thing I heard was a random character (who I thought was Buddha the next day) say “RUB MY BELLY!” and right after that I felt as if I lost the feeling. Here is where it got frustrating…

When I felt I lost the feeling I opened my eyes and saw my dad (which is normal he is usually the one that wakes me up for random reasons) and he was holding a new game he got for the xbox asking me to come play it with him and it was the early morning at this point. However I was just trying to get back to “almost LD’ing” where I was at before. I lay back down and close my eyes and before I knew it I was back into my bed and it was still around 1-2 o clock in the morning. I realized what happened… I was in a LD and I thought I didn’t make it so I got myself out of it! I was upset with myself because I was literally there!! :content:

The reason why I decided to share this story with you is, I get ALMOST as close as I did on this night, every night. Once you know the feeling but you don’t become lucid you might condition yourself to just try it again like I did and end up passing up the opportunity you were waiting for. Just so you know, you are ready to do this, You made it quite far already you just need to seal the deal, keep focusing hard when everything starts to fade away. Most importantly though, always RC when you feel you “failed”!

I hope this helps I’ve been dying to share this story for the past few days

Thank you for the story Angth

Wow, it’s really fascinating just how different our experience with going WILD is. If I would have felt someone lying next to me in bed, I would have freaked out! In the late, I have been trying to discard with my fears in RL with success. I think it’s time taking that step to the dream realm, otherwise I feel I wont break through. My biggest fear here comes from me being “Illuminated”; some of the familiar malevolent/benevolent symbols being used in every aspects of our lives are deeply integrated in my SC, and pops up at will. With it comes the sensation of fear and perplexity. It might very well be my SC playing tricks with me. The thing is, I don’t fear anything happening to my material body, I only somewhat fear something happening to my mind, but I do fear messing with my potential soul. Disregard this info at will, I really just need to vent it out

Man, I understand your frustration though. But it’s clearly a sign from your SC that you are ready, now it’s just the training and consistency thats needed really! I had a somewhat similar and frustrating experience this night. I think I actually dreamed that I was lucid, but I’m sincerely doubting whether I was. It was kinda like a dream within a dream. I woke up several time from this “lucid” state, into an ordinary dream. At least, that’s what I think was happening. It’s funny, because I did all the reality checks like checking my hands, c losing my eyes, spinning around, checking my clock several times (I don’t have one in RL ). The clock thing worked, but spinning around and checking my hands did nothing. All these logical errors makes me think i was in some kind of semi-lucid state, or non lucid at all.

Anyways, what I remember best was the vivid details. Like nothing I can remember actually. I could feel the heat on my body, how my steps felt, see all the details of a neighborhood and how textures felt to my fingers. This just goes to show that our brains are extremely adaptive, organizing our thought patterns in RL and in the dream state.

Thanks for the response, I’m looking forward to hear from your next experience! I think it’s a fairly larger chance your brain will “get it” the next time, sounds like you are just around the corner getting a full blown LD. Good luck mate, be seeing you around the forum!

It amazes me that, even though you have just started working on your dream journal, you’ve had an almost successful WILD attempt. I must say that you’re on the right track. A few more tries and you should be able to reach the dream state.
What you felt during your WILD attempt must have been some very vivid HH or a dream starting to form. That’s a great sign, which means that you’re close to succeeding.

To Paulius: I’m sure I speak for me and Minuteman when I say thanks for the encouraging words

As for the man of the Minute  I have something I would like to address so that you aren’t confused anymore. As far as reality checks go (the ones you mentioned) I noticed only one of them is a reality check I know of. The closing of the eyes may be one I am not completely sure since I am new of course. However the spinning around is not a reality check, I mean reality checks should be practiced during the waking life I hope you aren’t just spinning around in public  but the spinning is still of dire importance in a dream. It is used to keep someone lucid if they are feeling like the dream is coming to an end or closing (could be due to spending too much time focusing on an object or whatnot) and by spinning you can essentially increase the lucidity of your dream. Other ones would be like rubbing your hands together or just saying “Increase Lucidity!” or something along those lines

Here are some reality checks that I have been practicing that I have stolen from other experienced LD’ers on the this forum. The clock checking one is a good one I like that one, trying to push a single finger on my left hand through my right palm or vise versa, counting your fingers (not exactly sure how to do this one let me know if you find out I don’t know if you are supposed to look at them and count them or if you just count them while occupied :content: ) and the last one that I know and use the most frequently is trying to pinch my nose and breathe through it. I’ve heard if you feel pain from doing this that it’s not an advised RC due to the fact that the pain (if you experience it on your body while you are dreaming) can wake you up. It’s up to you which ones you do but also I read somewhere to make a habit of doing multiple which I see you have already done

There are also some that are asking yourself questions. For instance I read from a poster that they ask themselves “How did I get here” and try to retrace the steps they took to get where they are when they ask the question. Logically you will not be able to come up with the steps you took to get where you are in a dream especially if the dream just started. I’ve also been making a habit of asking myself “am I dreaming” prior to doing reality checks because I want to make sure my mind is actually open to the fact that I just may be dreaming. The last thing that I forgot to mention earlier, I have been making a habit of doing a reality check whenever I enter a new room. Due to the nature of my dreams I feel this reality check (topped with the ones I already do when I see dream signs) will prove to be quite an effective one. I hope this helps!

Sorry about the long read, and thank you for your kindness Minuteman!

Indeed you do Angth, thanks for the warm words Paulius

You are right, they are not really reality checks, I probably just meant doing stuff that would have an effect on my dream! So Angth, how do you go about? Do you just try to breathe, or do you ponder the fact that since you can’t breathe through your nose, you must be awake? Do you ask yourself verbally? I like to draw something on my hand, and whenever I see that throughout the day I ask myself if I’m dreaming. I only say it out loud whenever I’m alone, but I do take the question serious; I like to check different sensations, like how stuff feels to my fingers and so on, and then I’ll check a clock twice. What you are doing is a great idea, just incorporating multiple kind of checks. I’ll probably start doing some more when I’ve really got my dream journal up and running, thank you for the suggestions

Hey Minuteman, first off welcome to the fourms! :content: What you described actually sounds like you were about to have an astral projection, where you leave your body. I don’t really know a lot about AP, but I’m sure vibrations and what you described your body lifting is part of AP. Very neat experience though! WILDing is sort of similar to AP, some feelings are similar. Great to see your interest in WILDing, it’s a very fun experience as well!

Thanks a lot Minuteman! I can’t take complete credit as someone made me aware that I could in fact “fail” a reality check so he told me to make a habit of doing multiple.

I like to do different reality checks depending on the situation but I always try to ask myself “am I dreaming” prior to doing them just to that fora second I can actually convince myself I could be dreaming and use the reality check to disprove the statement (however I cannot swear by the effectiveness of anything I do since I have yet to achieve a MILD  ). Everything I do on a daily basis regarding RC’s are pretty generic besides the ones I perform upon seeing a dream sign ( which atm are pretty limited  )

I love that you say it out loud when you do your RC’s (when you are alone) because I feel that will add to the whole “convincing myself I could be dreaming” aspect and I hope you don’t mind but I’m going to steal that idea

Oh and I also like to do RC’s whenever I enter a new room but instead of just doing the normal time checks and such I ask myself “How did I get here” and try to retrace the steps that I took to get here. I like this one the most

Thanks for the addition to my RC’s!

I had my second semi WILD this night

I have found out that the body feeling is absolutely critical for me to get to that mindset, and I would guess this applies to most people. My tip is first to feel the notions a totally motionless body give you. I’ll guess this is quite individual, but after a while I get that feeling in my arms you get when your limbs are numbing out
because of a blood vessel under pressure. I imagine this feeling spreading out to the whole body, and it kind of does. At that moment, it feels like I can consciously “step out” of the body and into the mind realm. But please don’t over think this, this is only a notion which best can describe how I feel at this moment. It’s just a fancier way of saying I’m forgetting my body is there, and that is what you wanna do also!

After this, the key is just observing. Several times last night, I started thinking about what was happening. You get the feeling of being pushed back some, but not all the way out actually. This is no crisis, just try to keep on observing what your SC has “in mind” for you

The best tip I have seen on doing this is from another thread in here. Paulius suggested observing like you were watching TV, and it makes perfectly sense; most people have A LOT of experience watching TV, and when doing so your brain are running at absolute minimum capacity. Try this on your next go

So, yesterday it happened again. I got an outer body feeling, almost like floating (no obe). So I imagined myself floating around my childhood house. This was a very giving experience for me, and that warm feeling that my SC really does take care of me. The memories and vividness, things I haven’t thought about for years just kept popping up. This happening outside my command allowed me to keep an observational mind, and a very glad one nevertheless

Soon after this, things shrunk around me and the HH started. It was quite a normal WILD experience I guess, vivid colors, vibrating body feel and amazing pictures popping up. This time, my heart felt like that of a race horse. I don’t think it came out of me being excited, but it stole what consciousness I had left and stopped me from going any further. I take it also this is normal when going into SP and next time I will try not to give it that much thought.

To all you people trying WILD; remember that everyone of you are capable of doing it, it just takes a lot of practice getting to know and understand what is happening to your body and mind. I’m new to this method, but feel free to ask any questions. Good luck!

Congrats Minuteman!!! Sounds to me like you are close! Keep it up!
