Hi all – I’m new here. I’m not new to lucid dreams or obe’s but I never trained to have them, they just happen about a dozen or so times each year. I had a lucid dream last night and I suspect I’ll have a few more soon, so I just did a web search on it and found this site. I’d love to share some of the things I’ve learned over the years – but I’m no expert. In fact I have a question to any of you that may have some thoughts on a recent dream of mine (not the one last night).
A couple months ago I was having a regular dream. I was standing outside a farm house looking up at a very large tree. Above this tree was a shiny metal UFO. It was so out of place that I immediately realized that I was dreaming. Now it is common for me to wake up inside a dream and still have dream elements around me so I usually ignore them as I did in this case. I decided to go check out the moon so I flew strait up into the sky and headed out into space. Just before leaving the atmosphere of earth I changed my mind and decided to go back and check out the UFO first so I made a large circle and headed back.
I lined myself up with the flying saucer and prepared to fly through the top and inside to check it out. Now here is what was odd – when I tried to fly into the UFO I instead smashed into it and fell the thirty or so feet to the ground and woke up.
Well this is an abbreviated version, but is basically it – now what has me baffled is why I couldn’t fly strait into the craft. I had something similar to this happen to me once before, but not exactly the same. I had a hard time going through a wall but it was because there was another intelligence on the other side. Does anyone have any ideas on this one?
I think things like this are a common problem for a lot of people. Easy to fix though. When I first started LD ‘ing I was able to fly quite easily right from the beginning with one exception, I could never fly indoors. I think it has something to do with the fact that our logical mind is now awake in a LD and sometimes we bring the restrictions of our real life into the dream with us. (Hope that made sense). Basically what you have to do is unlearn everything from your waking life. If you know you can fly into the UFO, you can. You just have to really believe that you can. Nothing is impossible in a LD. Don’t worry as you have more LD ‘s and try different things you will overcome these barriers.
Thanx milod for your input on this. I guess what really got me though is that I’ve been having LD’s for years and I’m so used to flying strait through anything that when i hit the UFO I was really kinda shocked that it was rock solid.
I did have a problem with the flying part when I first started having lucid dreams I would kinda have to swim through the air so I hear what you’re saying – it makes sense.
when I hit the UFO I was clipping along at probably a couple hundred mph or better LOL. It’s a good thing I was dreaming.
That is strange since you are used to flying through things. Maybe next time try and land on the UFO and just try and push your hand through it then create an opening. Of course you could just land on it and look for a door but, what fun is there in that. LOL
I had a problem like this once…every time my mom would appear in my dreams I’d be doing something cool like flying or summoning britney spears and instantly as soon as she got there I’d lose all my ‘powers’. It took me a while to convince myself I really could do it, but I finally saw her in a dream and thought to myself" this is all in my head… I can do what I want…" and pointed at her and yelled “YOU! DISSAPPEAR!!” and POOF away she went… haven’t had that problem since
Thanx guys for your input. I will try next time to land on it first (and I’ll take some asprin just in case LOL). I suspect that it may be one of two things either it is because the ufo was already there before I realized i was lucid in a dream or that there may have been an intelligence inside…I’m not really used to the terms used in these forums, cuz I’ve always had LD’s naturally and never really tried to learn anything else about them so when I say intelligence I am talking about beings that are kinda under thier own control if that makes sense.
Another thing I can NEVER do is call a real person into my dream…How do you call britny spears into your dream??..I can call a pretty girl into my dream, but not by name EVER. I’ll end up paralized in bed if I do and at that point I can either go OBE or wake up…I always throught that was something that couldn’t be done.
dont try to block yourself with assumptions emotionally while having a LD.
Second you not always have the same control in a ld that might differ also, but never expect in a negative blocking way because it will work against you and will result in less freedom.
You really have to expect the person to be there. That is the key. You have to realize that this is your world and you are the boss. I have summoned people by name. Maybe in stead of summoning them out of thin air say to yourself that mr/ms x will be standing there when I go around this corner or open this door or something like that. As you get more control you will be able to summon who ever you please. Just takes practice. Some times even LD ‘S don’t necessarily respond exactly the way we want them to. Like Jeff said don’t let negative thoughts block you. If you think that you can you can. Conversely, if you think you can’t then you can’t. For example: if I say in a dream that a gold bar will appear in my hand and I know it will be there then, it will. If however, I have some doubt then the bar may or may not me there. Hope that made sense.
Also your levels of lucidity may change as the dream is in motion. You can stat a dream highly lucid then later loose some lucidity and thus some control. If you feel like the dream is not acting as you want. Stop and remind yourself that this is a dream and do something to stabilize the dream.
