I was just wondering about ways to make it easier to stay lucid and increase lucidness in dreams. I think a big part of it is the RC. I’m not quite sure, but my theory is that, if you are more aware during RCs, you will be more aware in your lucid dreams.
What I mean by ‘aware during RCs’ is that, every time you do a RC, you actually think about what you are doing. Many people simply ask themselves if they are dreaming and then do a reality check while only half concentrating on the RC. To be more aware during a RC, you must stop whatever you are doing and think only about the reality check. Give it your full concentration until you are done.
I think, by doing this, the awareness during the RC will carry into the lucid dream, and there will be more clarity/lucidy. Can someone tell me if this is true?
Depends on what you mean, if by aware you mean that you’ll be more likely to have lucid dreams then yes, I definitely agree. If by aware you mean a higher degree of lucidity, then I’d say sometimes. Good reality checking doesn’t guarantee a super high level of lucidity; it’s more than possible to realize your dreaming but still be minimally conscious of it. In that case, its like you just discovered a cool fact, but the fact is insignificant. I’m not saying it won’t help, because the better you are at question your state IRL, the better you get at it in dreaming; and oftentimes the more you question your state the more important that fact becomes to you and you end up with a higher level of lucidity.
I agree completely. Going through the motions while doing reality checks can hurt in several ways. For one, you develop a habit of going through the motions IRL, which means that you will start doing the same while dreaming; and if you don’t seriously question your state you’ll probably miss the fact that you’re dreaming. Secondly, going through the motions tends to lead to a blind assumption that you are awake; because IRL you know that you’re not dreaming. This can lead to the same blind conclusions while dreaming, and thus a false negative.
This is the point I’m always trying to make, and I’m so glad to see someone was able to come to that conclusion on their own for once . If you aren’t paying attention to the RC it doesn’t mean anything. If you don’t even bother to check to see if it’s working or not, or what the answer means, how can you expect yourself to in a dream?
