how do you dream? [1st person - 3rd person]

Yeah, I have some dreams where I’m a DO. It’s just like watching a movie - like you said it. But when I, in person, take part in a ND, I am “me” like IRL. I don’t remember the last time when I saw myself taking part in the “movie” too… :eh:

I’m with the few who said both at the same time. It seems weird thinking about it, but I view the dream like a movie, but sense everything as if I’m the main person in the dream. Its an odd mix that makes perfect sense when I’m dreaming. Not sure if that makes sense to anyone but me

It makes some sense - you see yourself like watching a movie and you feel what’s happening to you in that movie. It’s like 3D - 6D movie :content:

Yes, but I am also the person so I am not only watching like a movie, but I am also in first person at the same time. Like I am in my body, but outside my body at the same time.

I do like the 3D-6D description

I normally view it in first person, but when I recall my dreams it’s in third.

Alright, so i dream in a mix of 1st and 3rd person. I want to know if anyone else dreams like this, and i REALLY want to know what i’ll be dreaming in when i achieve lucidity.

Merged into existing topic :ysim:

Sometimes you will dream in 3rd person but the most common is in 1st. When lucid you can change that very easily so don’t worry about it.

But keep in mind if you expect that you will dream in 3rd person then most likely you will, so use that power of the mind and expect to dream in 1st person or in which ever way you like! :content:

Good luck!

I have dreams being in 3rd person (and, even more rarely, being a different person) but the vast majority of my dreams are in first person. Whether you have a LD in first or in third person depends a lot on what you usually dream in. So when you say that you have a mix of both, you might have this mix with LD’s too. I guess though that you’re more likely do become lucid while in first person, because usually in this state you think more than in third person view (only speaking from personal experience, can be completely different for you).

I agree with dB_FTS there, when you have a LD being in third person, getting yourself a body and switching to first person isn’t hard.

I dream mainly in 1st person, sometimes in 3rd person, and also as a different person while examining myself from the outside. Like it’s been said, switching views should be fairly easy once lucid.

It varies for me. Sometimes I’m an actual actor in the story, sometimes I’m just a disembodied observer. Technically, though, I guess both of these are still first-person, it’s just that sometimes the first person is just a floating eyeball that follows other characters around.

I’ve never gotten lucid while I was the eyeball though. I guess when it’s not happening to me it’s harder to know for sure that it’s not just fiction and therefore allowed to be weird.

On a few occasions, though, I’ve had kind of a mixture of both, where I’m playing the part off a character while also watching from the outside. It’s a little weird. You can pull dramatic irony on yourself doing it that way, like waking up somewhere and wondering what happened while your third-person self remembers parts of the story you weren’t there for.

My normal dreams are a mixture of both, and sometimes I’m merely an observer, watching other people. The view sometimes switches between the two, usually from 3rd-person to 1st-person, but it usually stays with one camera view. I’ve never had a lucid dream in anything other than 1st-person though.

I normally dream in first person, though i have dreampt in third person several times. Sometimes it shifts throughout the dream

One time i dreampt that i was someone who wasn’t me, and throughout the dream id switch back and forth to third person and into that person.

I tend to dream in first person, but I’m not always myself. I am multiple DCs in each dream, experiencing everything from different points of view. It’s rather interesting, now that I think about it.

has anyone ever dreamt of simply an image? maybe it moves, but there’s nothing to your dream BUT the object of which you’re dreaming?

Yup. When I was still about 7 I had a dream about this Blues Clues stuffed animal that I had won at six flags afew weeks back. It started out with an FA. I wake up and see Blue at the end of the bed. I blinked slowly and it got closer. I blinked a third time wondering what was going on and when I opened my eyes Blue was hovering over me with a hostile glare as if he intended to kill me. It pretty much scared me awake.

Well my DR isn’t that great yet. It’s improving fast now that I’m using a DJ though. From what I can tell, I only ever dream in 1st person. Maybe I’ll see otherwise now that reading this topic has brought it to attention. But as far as I know, mostly 1st person.

Mostly first person for me. I usually know that it is myself, but i rarely know that I am dreaming. If that makes sense.

Mostly first person for me too , rarely DO and never had 3rd person experience…

I dream in first person a majority of the time. Occasionally I’ll have a third person view, but this usually only happens in drastic dream scenarios, such as the time I mutated into a freakish monster. Last night, I was actually a disembodied observer in one of my dreams (which probably has something to do with me being sick).
