How does it feel?

I know this question has probably been asked before, but how does it feel? I know most people are going to say “It feels like something you have never felt before” etc.

I have never lucid dreamed before but I have done plenty of research and came close to a WILD twice. Can someone explain exactly how the dream feels? Does it feel exactly like waking life? Thanks!

I feels how you want it to feel because you control the whole dream.

I’m not going to agree with “It feels like something you have never felt before”. For me, it was not such a feeling at all.

When I first became fully lucid (by that I mean aware of the dream and being able to manipulate it), I felt like I had power. In the dream, I was the most important person, everything was there for me and I could control them as I wanted. Being lucid, at that time, made me feel like I was a 6-year-old with some maturity, a bit of knowledge and freedom. Although the feeling diminished over time, I didn’t quite lose the wish to have a lucid dream. I do believe that every dream feels different though. :content:

I’ve only had one LD of a couple of minutes and it really felt like I woke up inside a clear dream. The world feels pretty much like normal, but you can do a lot of cool stuff (although I failed at most things, lol). I acted a lot like a kid bouncing around, like it has just entered a new playground. When the dream ended I was really exited about it and wanted to call and wake people up, so that’s a good indicator on how it felt to me.

For me , it felt really weird as in, when i became concious, everything became much much clearer, and i mean so clear that it was better than in real life. i think this is becuase I knew in the dream that i could do anything i want, even though the dream was only for about 40 seconds or something like that, getting lucid in the dream was a really cool experience.

persnoally, i dont like to ask this question to anyone because i want to experience it all by myself before asking others about their experiences haha

Everything looked real but I KNEW it was all in my mind. It was an awesome feeling knowing I was in a dream and AWARE.

Basically what moogle said. I also felt like I could do anything. Dreams are normally kind of whimsical any, but being able to control it felt very solid. Also, flying is really fun. Very liberating.

Yes, it feels exactly like real life, if not more real. And it’s entirely in your mind.

A vivid LD is hard to explain, because it’s so surreal. You’ll be able to do anything you want.

You’ll wake up and glow for the rest of the day.

I’m glad you asked this question. :content: It does certainly feel like nothing else, but that doesn’t bar me from discussing it. The dream becomes much clearer, as amitruz said; it’s a bit like the difference between an experience and the memory of that experience. moogle also made a good point in saying that one is aware that (s)he is inside his/her own mind. For me, it is like daydreaming, except the daydream has completely taken over reality. The sensory experience is different in that you typically only feel what you pay attention to. (This is also true IRL, but a dream takes it to another level by actually not having any stimuli for things you don’t notice.) Physical constants like gravity are slightly off. Reality is highly distorted. (I once saw a screen door, and then what looked like a photocopy of it just a few inches to the right–like when a copy machine creates double-images.) I often can pass through solid objects just by turning my back to them and walking backwards. It’s a brilliant experience.

I feel very powerful and almighty when I am lucid  and it feels more than reality, then when I wake from a good LD I feel a joy that can last for the entire day :content:

Pure energy surging throughout my body.

It’s werid, but I have problems with weight in my dreams. When I become lucid it’s harder for me to control my body parts. Everything feels heavier than before. I really have to put effort into it. I’m getting better though :content:

It feels- emotionally- invigorating. I feel full of life and everything seems to become clearer. It’s really nice.

Like working class hero says, it´s really quite hard to explain but when you once have had your first LD you will get hooked. You wake up and your not the slightest bit tierd, your just soo amazed and you glow for the rest of the day.

my first experience i didn’t know much what was going on at the time, so it felt weird, and i was too into the dream to notice much how it “felt”?
but in all my WILD attempts after that, i’d been gettin closer and closer, and once I grasped any slight feeling, the feeling became pure adrenaline! because i was so excited…lol.

I felt nothing of my dream body, except when concentrating on touching something. Nothing there, yet something, basically you know it’s there but your senses are disagreeing.

Lucid dreams are still dreams. So therefore, they still have that “go with the flow” dream feeling and they still get blurry and harder to remember when you wake up. If you’re able to prolong it enough, it might feel close to RL, but it takes a while to master (heck, even I haven’t mastered it yet). The only difference is in ND’s you can’t feel stuff like your hands rubbing against something, or wind blowing around as well, its only when your lucid that you notice these things. So overall, its a bit more vivid of a dream, but it still feels like a dream.

I disagree with you here, you dont have to be lucid to be able to feel stuff in dreams, it can be the other way actually, that you lose your feeling sense once getting lucid

Depends on your lucidity and how well you can control it, some LD’s can be blurrier than ND’s

Depends how good your DR is, some LD’s are very easy to remember, some times I have felt like waking up is a part of the LD  except that when I RC I notice Im IRL

I think LD’s feel like normal dreams but enhanced. Everything is stronger (except pain perhaps).

Actually you can feel pain stronger if you have enough will to feel it  but the hard thing is to summon such a feeling :cool_raz:

Yes but I was trying to write that post from the point of view of someone who hasn’t had a lucid dream before.
