Moved from Quest for Lucidity
I’m not sure if I catch your drift. We do indeed experience all kinds of dreams in real-time, and lucid dreams are real-time and conscious. Indeed, some times we don’t remember even lucid dreams! So yes, we experience them, they’re not just a remembered thing.
If you ever had a lucid dream, you know that you not simply remembered it, you experienced it consciously. That is a big difference.
When you read this post, you know you are reading this, don’t you? You know it, it is not just happening like in a normal dream, you are conscious of yourself reading this, right now, unless you had to much alcohol, and are just not very clear in your head and not really realising that you are reading.
Off course you also will remember that you have read this in 5 minutes.
Well it is the same with lucid dreaming, you know you are dreaming the moment that your dream is happening, it is not just happening, you are fully aware (and you have control). And after you wake up, you remember it also, but it is a highly vivid remembrance because you actually fully experienced it. You remember it the same way as you remember for example a nice holiday when you enjoyed so much lying on a beach, or swimming in the sea. It was real, it was no dream. Likewise lucid dreams are real (in terms of experience), they are not just dreams that happened to you.
I hope this helps, if not I advice you to read this again, now with more attention and lucidity
OK thanx !
But I have an other question
When we are dreaming normaly, we don’t live our dream, we just remember it, right?
So how do we cross from a memory to a lucid dream?
(I hope you’ll understand what i mean)
We do indeed live out our normal dreams - they’re not just memories. However, a few crucial things like awareness are missing that come into play when we become lucid.
I think I understand what you’re asking, and can reasonably answer it:
provided you were asking if we experience dreams in real time, or just get a recollection of the events that happened once we wake up.
I believe we experience dreams in real time; I would point to one of Stephen Laberge’s experiments; you know, the one where he proved lucidity by using predetermined eye signals while asleep. By him performing these eye signals whilst asleep, I think we can safely say that dreams happen in real time.
I know what you mean. When you look at a dream when you have bad recall, you “remember” it, you don’t live it.
I have always had dreams of both types, and there are lucids of both as well. Most of the time in lucids you are “there” though. It would be like looking around right now and realizing that everything is a dream. That is what lucidity is like 99% of the time.
THANX ! These are the answers that i was expecting !
It will help me. Thanxx
