Often when I try to go to sleep I close my eyes with my room as dark as possible. Then I look into the darkness for images or listen for sound. Usally when I do hear a sound or see an image and realise I see or hear something it fades away.
Does anyone know ways I could focus on the sound or image or methods I could use to trick my mind so that it doesn’t “clear my sound/image cache” so quickly?
Hypnagogic images, or sounds, are produced when we are very close to sleep. Focusing on them makes us more alert, and that makes the hallucinations go away. For me, it works better to just relax and “watch” the HI, without actively focusing. Sometimes I “help” it, by visualising something similar to an image that has already appeared. That can make more scenes of the same kind appear, and maybe even lead into a WILD dream.
Welcome to LD4all! There is an introduction topic in the gathering forum, if you want to say hi.
