Is there something you actually CANT do in a dream?

Maybe nothing!, no but really, i think you can do anything.

Ok, well thanks for the responses to my points everyone  I thought I had thought of something impossible, obviously not haha. Anyway, I think I’ve got one now

Ok, create a desert in your mind, that goes on forever, for an infinite number of miles. Can you see from one side to the other?

I thought it was our eyes that limited which colors we can see. Some animals apparently see less colors than us, I think that’s because of their eyes and not the brain.

I thought about that too. That link was the best i had on “new colors”. But it might be extra-strong ordinary colors. I hope I’ll experience it myself sometime.

I honestly think that anything you can imagine you can do in a dream. Basically almost anything is possible. Almost because if you cant imagine something then you cant do it(like having an infinite amount of zeros in your field of vision for example; the problem would be visualizing infinity). I thought it would be impossible to change a dream scene without spinning but a few LDs ago i did it. I strained my mind so much doing it that i woke up right after though.

I like do say that you can do “everything you can imagine and a little more”. That little more may be geometrical or logical impossibilities. Or infinity. At least having an illusion of infinity.

It is the eyes that limit what we see, but all senses are interpreted by out brain, so no matter what our eyes can pick up we can’t see it if our brain can’t interpret it. Even if there was a new color out there that we can’t see, we still can’t see it in our dreams because as I said earlier, the reason we see in our dreams, or hear in our dreams is because the parts of the brain that interpret those senses in real life are firing while we are asleep. So, you see, if you can’t sense it in real life you can’t sense it in the dream world.

This however has nothing to do with repositioning the input of the sense. For example, one can shift so that one has a third arm and one could sense off of that arm just like the other two. It might be a little disorienting at first to get the hang of it, but one could recreate the feel. But one couldn’t create a new kind of sensation unless it was a combination of existing sensations simply because our brains can’t interpret the new input so the new input would never exist.

I agree WASD; thats a good point. Everyone has an idea of infinity at least. In my example someone may think they see an infinite number of anything but it may only be a million of them or just a whole bunch. If thats what someone thinks is an infinite amount then it is (especially in dreams where the world is yours). Its all possible to me either way.

oh i think i understand lding. but i think there’s a whole lot of hype going on about it.

I disagree. LD’s are awesome and they deserve more attention. They are “underhyped” if there is a word like that.

LDs are most certainly “underhyped”, i will agree. almost no one knows about them. at least around where i live, it’s only the people who are already interested in meditations or OBEs or something. if i tell anyone i’m an LDer, they look at me all weird.

and about what tinkerbell said before… like, if it’s not real, then what’s the deal? well, who knows if it’s not real. really, how can you say this reality is, well, real? ever seen the Matrix? anyway, how can you say this is all real? maybe it’s just another long dream, or… how do i word this out? what happens after death? who knows, i mean - in most religions there’s a heaven or some kind of moving point. do you think that just means nothing? cause i mean… if we die and find out there’s another level of being, so to say, another reality - who’s to say this wasn’t a dream? or as you say - then, equally, that this reality also wasn’t real?
actually, one can philosophize about this for a long time.

You can not choose the location you’re going to be at-when you
have a “False Awakening.” It could be anywhere, your childhood
home,your adult home,Grandparents house,etc.You have no choice.

I agree completely. And so you can imagine that when I’m at school and my teacher makes mention of LDing that I’m shocked. Turns out there are quite a lot of us out there. You just have to know where to look and hope that you get really, really lucky. After all, all of us here on LD4all.com are at least aspiring to be LDers. So, to everyone who reads this post, I’m and LDer…

Nah, not over here where i live. It’s sort of a small conservative country, so no one really has heard of it. I just know one person who is into meditation and he had like a spiritual teacher for this and pursued it for other reasons.

I’m hoping Inception made it at least a little bit more understandable xD i remember one of my friends was listening to my rant about an LD, and she was so weirded out, she thought i was talking about the movie, and it was my actual experiences before i’d even seen the movie xD

come on. how long does a lucid dream even last?

well i can’t say cause i’m not very experienced in this area, but it’s not in how long it lasts, but how long it feels that it lasts. for me it’s like… i think that… you know how during the day you only ever do boring things most of the time? eating, drinking, sitting around, studying or working… and then there’s like only 3 hours in one or two days of the week where you do something fun - go out dancing, being with friends, something like that? so in a lucid dream you can skip all the boring parts. you get the raw few hours of just having absolute fun  so it’s kind of the same. except for the part that you can meet people you could never meet IRL, also do things you could never do while awake.

also, LDs can be very long if you’re good at chaining. i’ve heard that some people managed to cramp 7 LDs in one night.

you just can’t have a good opinion on this until you’ve experienced it  you don’t really know what it is… when you actually experience it, it blows your mind. until i did, i was also all like “what’s the big deal” and all that.

I think i had the illusion of a new color a few nights ago. It was a mix of red and brown but it was red and brown at the same time, kinda… It was not static but changed dynamically.

this probably isn’t impossible, but it would sure be weird:

melting into a puddle of yourself, but still having your senses and all that. strange.

nah, i think that would be possible.

are you sure people have died in dreams?
because if you die in a dream you end that dream or wake up, but you don’t experience the sensation of death, so technically you don’t die?

wow, good point! never thought about it that way
